Mully: Sox fan
Hanley: Cubs fan
Dustin Rhoades: Cubs fan
Mac: Was a Cubs fan his whole life, switched because he hates losing. Gets away with it because he doesn't really care about baseball.
Spiegel: Red Sox fan who came to Chicago, picked up the Cubs as his local team.
Boers: Cubs fan
bernstein: Claims to be Sox fan but spends half the baseball season consumed with NBA playoffs. Would be happy if Cubs won World Series.
Zawaski: Cubs fan
Finfer: Cubs fan
drinky: Cubs fan
Goff: Unknown. I don't think he's a big baseball fan.
Sir Larry: Sox fan
Les: Cubs fan
Rongey: Cardinals fan. Of course he hates the Cubs.
Rozner: Cubs fan. Oh yeah, I forgot, he's a journalist.
Rosenbloom: Hates everybody. I actually think he may really be as indifferent as Rozner would like us to believe he is.
Joe O.: Cubs fan
Connor McKnight: Cubs fan
Hub: Cubs fan

I don't think Boers is a fan of either Chicago team. He claims to be a Rays fan but that's only because he has a house down there and can go to games without people recognizing him.

Connor is from Milwaukee, right? I think he's a Brewers fan. Which is another reason why they should have picked Chip Egan. (I'll never quit talking about that.)

Actually, I have no problem with those guys who are proud Cubs fans. I respect drinky as a baseball guy. It's the phonies I don't care for. And even a real Sox fan like Mully is always glass half empty while the station is loaded with Cubs fans who are always optimistic. I realize some of that has to do with the general natures of the respective fanbases, but it really doesn't lend itself to the station being "WSOX", does it?

I'm pretty sure Boers is a Cubs fan. He's a big baseball fan and I don't believe he went his whole life without a hometown rooting interest. He certainly isn't a Sox fan. Yeah, he's got a place in Tampa so now he pulls for the Rays. But I think his roots are with the Cubs.

JORR your Mac and Bernstine are really closet Cubs fans is one of my favorite running things on this site. Every once and awhile it comes out while you are arguing with BRick about the latest fashions in Milan and it makes my day.

Yeah, it's hard to tell with him. I think baseball is a distant third for him behind hoops and football.

Goff is definitely not as cocky with his baseball thoughts as he is with basketball, and to a lesser degree, football.

I consider it WSOX because ....ummm let's see...they broadcast sox games,...and have pre & post (sox) game shows...and oh ya, that little show on the weekends called White Sox weekly...Which really BLOWS if you are a Cubs fan. Hence....WSOX.

Not to mention the aura of Jerry floating over everyone's head. God forbid anyone piss him off.

They have to pre-empt 1st round coverage the Bears draft pick on both the radio and the webstream to broadcast White Sox talk for a 10-3 loss.

WSOX.

JORR's desire to limit allegiance to his beloved WSOX strikes me as Blackhawkesque pre Stanley Cup days. A member of team WSOX has to give one hell of a lot of blood before being admitted.

NOTE: The race issue does not apply with JORR. A quart of blood is a quart of blood.

I'm assuming most Cub fans, bigfan being the notable exception, turn it off during those times. Just like WGN isn't WCUB for those who simply listen to the tired babblings of Garry Meier or tune in for the school closings. My point is, the editorial stance of the Score's regular programming leans way in favor of the Cubs.

Post subject:  Re: Allegiances at "WSOX"

Don't think anyone is arguing WGN. WSCR was a chicago sports station when it first came on the air, and for several years after. Once they became the broadcast station for the sox,...the programming and coverage thus became very WSOX-ish. I liked it better when they were more of an independant. We saw what Jerry did to Mariotti when he was on AM1000 and they had the Bulls. I was not a fan of Mariotti on the air either. He sucked. But, I am positive there is a Jerry influence that hovers over everything and everyone at WSOX. Hell, just ask ex-governer Big Jim Thompson if Jerry is easy to deal with?? He gave him a free restaurant & profits on the backs of the illinois tax payers and no one says shit about it.

I dont much care which "boobs" are cubs fans and which "boobs" are sox fans.....the station programming and coverage is heavily slanted toward WSOX and the people who work there know & "fear" the wrath of Reinsdorf.

That's just my opinion.

Thanks, again, for the support. Connor has done a nice job. I thought he mentioned that he was from the Chicagoland area but went to the University of Wisconsin. By the way, I am a Sox fan. Grew up on the northwest side and there are family members who wondered if my parents dropped me on my head after I was born.

Well, how can it be that the Sox have no value to the Score to that point that some people have suggested the Sox need to buy the time, yet, Uncle Jerry is calling all the shots? Does that make any sense?

I'm not arguing about anything anyway. I just made a list of the Score guys and their baseball allegiances. Maybe Jason or Mac could show up and confirm my list.

I dont know that it matters much to a professional on the radio. I can talk rationally about either team (stupid meatball thoughts aside) and I dont hate the Sox, I just root for the Cubs to win. I dont see why there is a Cubs/Sox rivalry. They are in 2 different leagues and happen to play 6 times a year. When the Sox won I was happy for my friends that root for them, hell I was rooting for them. I sure as shit didnt want to see the Astros and Clemens win a WS.

Thats why it is WSOX....could be all Cubs fans in the Booths.

Nothing better than the hosts defending their ability to say whatever they want with the same line 'Nobody has ever told me what they can say or can't say regarding the Sox."

Nobody told me I can't talk shit about my clients, but I know I can't.

It's OK JOOR, it should be WSOX if the Score is in a partnership with the team, just own it. They treat the Sox with kid gloves, because it would be too easy to tear into them daily, specifically their broadcast teams to start.
