Who's the genius that came up this? Mitch Rosen?? Brooks Boyer??? This is the best you can come up with to promote bad Sox baseball on the Score? And it sounds like they are cross promoting this slogan with Score shows too. Nothing makes me "appreciate the game" like watching Matt Thornton meltdown on the mound while listening to two of the most insufferable bores ever to broadcast a baseball game.

That was awesome. Four roided up freaks and Greg Maddux looking like he was caddying for their foursome.

Matt Clement was a roided-up freak?

You know what, every annual team slogan blows. They're all dumb and all they ever do is set you up for derision. That the Cubs are even going forth with one is insulting. They should be above it. Did they learn nothing, nothing at all from "Year One"?

That said, the Score co-opting "Appreciate the Game" to promote itself is clunky and half-assed, like most everything the Score does to promote itself. I mean, it's not as if this is such an inspired slogan that we need to get the most out of it.

"White Sox Baseball: Appreciate the Game. Mully and Hanley appreciate the game mornings 5 to 9!"
"HEY WE'RE TALKING AT KEN ROSENTHAL"
"That's appreciating the game!"

whatever.

Maybe, maybe not. I'd put my money on it. But I guess you're not going to argue about the other three.

Prior was a roided up freak. No question.

Although roided up freaks tend to recover more quickly from injury/workout - so how does that explain Wood? Not sure I'd put him on that list - would you? Never crazy-muscular, always hurt. Probably not on the juice.

And name the confirmed roided up freak that consistently has 15% + body fat? So, I'd say Zambrano probably wasn't either. He was just batshit crazy.

 @ Matt Clement being on roids.

I'm surprised Reisdorf hasn't gotten decked for this slogan yet. It's like he's telling his team's fans to either take the team for what it is (a piece of shit) or go fuck themselves.

Cool. And I'll go with a list dug up by multiple professional reporters over the opinions of a casual observer. Maybe the list is phony. Maybe it isn't. But obviously there's not a real good reason to  over the idea that Matt Clement was gassed up for the short time when he could throw his fastball through a brick wall.

You remember Matt Clement's "out pitch" being an overpowering fastball?

Absolutely. He was a hard-throwing SOB for awhile there.

ding. carlos aint on sterroids... he used to do the celebrity bartender thing like farnsworth did... he's genuinely a big ol fun-loving overgrown manchild who like, his thing was that he DIDNT work out and put in effort cuz he got by on natural talent for so long.

btw, anyone been watching him this year? carlos was always better when he wasn't throwing his fastball 95+ cuz it straightened out. now that he's lost of his arm.....

Carlos Zambrano (2012): 7g 7gs 1w 2l 0sv 0bsv 0hld 1cg 1sho 48.0ip 33h 11r 10er 3hr 17bb 39k 1.88era 1.04whip .205baa

At first, I was goiing to question the Clement thing, but then thinking about it, his career path and when he did what he did kinda follows the steroid trail

I wouldnt be surprised.

Zambrano was probably taking shit in the old country

I dont think Prior ever took anything illegal

What is the steroid trail?

Just to move things along, please remember that you have claimed that there is no steroid career arc. http://score670.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?p=1217695#p1217695

He was at his best when steroid use was seemingly at its peak and quickly faded away after testing.

Four out of five aces recommend steroids for their fellow pitchers who use performance enhancing drugs.

If you HAD to bet $5,000 on each member of the 2005 White Sox being on steroids, who would you bet yes on?

Ill start you off

Sounds like you are describing a "Steroid career arc" there which I was told doesn't exist.

Anyways, just interesting to read your thoughts on the pages around that post I linked and then other times you talk about steroids.

No, actually Im adding another type of career to the steroid list. The pitcher with good stuff who threw 94 for a couple years. Thats another type of career. It strengthens what I said.

Lets go to the Mountain of PED Hypocrisy for a GM in Kenny Williams and Manny Ramirez!!!!!!!!!!!

Kenny before Manny!

“Any time the purity of the game is put at risk, the competitiveness, the equal chance to compete on the field on a daily basis, [it hurts the game],” Williams said. “Absolutely it’s to the detriment of the game and we, as players, as people in management and coaches and everyone on the peripheral, have a responsibility.

“[The media] are part of that group. There is a responsibility to be caretakers of the game, and conduct ourselves that people before us did so. Yes, if anyone tells you it’s not a black mark each time any of these things happen, they’re kidding themselves.”

Kenny After Manny

“(Ramirez) explained exactly what he thought he was taking and the reason for it,” Williams said. “So absent of any sort of proof, who am I to make such judgments against a guy in that fashion?"

Before, you said that a steroid career arc doesn't exist. In this thread, you described a steroid career arc. It's as simple as that.

It doesn't strengthen your case. You are admitting that we can look at certain career profiles and see what a steroid user typically looks like. There can be more than one. However, if someone, say Ken Griffey Jr., doesn't fit in with that profile, it can be used as evidence that they may not have taken steroids. It's not definitive proof but it is evidence.

That's the point. You believe that steroid career arcs exist. Admit it and we can move on.
