I've always thought that Larry does good to a point...sometimes he has good guests, does good interviews, keeps the topics on point and flowing......and then......he hits a wall and regresses like tonight.

First off telling us that Farmer and DJ are an enjoyable duo to listen to, even though "they take some getting used to". Larry, for a top market like Chicago, the radio guys on one of the MLB teams should not take some getting used to! My gripe is: stop trying to polish a turd and turn it into a gem. Farmer and DJ suck and you shouldn't stoop to that level to play them up like a good thing. At least B&B just don't mention them.

Then after that, he goes off on a major tangent discussing rap and women...and does it all with that exaggerated, "I'm down with the homies" accent that annoys to no end.

Larry is good in small bites. His show should be an hour long and that's it. When he subs in with Mac/Spiegs or Bernstein, he wears thin quick as well, so they should have a back-up host at the ready whenever he starts with talking women, rap, wrestling, comic books, working out or teaching at DePaul....just my advice.

During his Bernstein transition, he ripped an establishment that has been nothing but great to the Score. My guys at Sweetwaters! He basically called them out by name, for not having the Sox game on. Per Jason, he got very mad, trying to reason that they are a Chicago team, blah, fucking blah.

1. If you walk into a bar in Chicago and they dont have your team on, they don't want your team on.

2. They are called SPONSORS. I know they have not done anythng in a while, but you never know who might be going to a Cubs/Sox game with one of the owners on Friday

They were wrong to not have the game on. They were wrong to not put the game on when asked. They were wrong to have Red Sox-Mariners game on instead.

Don't be wrong and you won't get THAT SHAKEn.

Obsessing over Larry is getting nauseating. I recommend we just ignore him. Wall treatment... engage!

It'd be a better show if Loho treated it like it wasn't a big show. It's a gift timeslot that doesn't draw and they let him do his thing to keep him happy but honestly this is as good as Holmes is gonna get. I like him for doing what he does with the Bears, but as a regular it's not really that fun to listen to.

Thinking about it more, that is a really minor shift. There are a possible 365 nights he could work in a year. At least 104 of those are taken by weekends. Another 100 are taken by White Sox. 25 are taken by De Paul, NIU and Bears All Access. At least 10 are used up for vacation. That leaves about 125 shows per year and that is conservatively on the high end. That shift gives a person 25 weeks of on air work or less than half a year. It's a part time job.

Larry Holmes is a former Heavyweight boxing champion who defeated an aging Muhammad Ali 1980 to retain his title. Good guy. Underrated. Check out the 30-for-30 documentary on that Ali/Holmes fight. Really good stuff.

Hmm. Sounds like you're talking about Laurence Holmes. His name is Laurence, I think. Can you confirm this?

Don't forget that the Score also broadcasts Monday and Thursday NFL football. This year it's gonna be 17 weeks of Thursday games. So take off another 34 shows. That leaves your total at 91 full boat shows.

Don't forget all of the Monday holidays and the fact that Larry guilted Mitch into giving him 2 MLK days. Larry also takes the Jewish holidays off out of respect for Bernstein.

Ordinarily, contracts call for work during a particulary time slot with extra compensation due if there is a move. I have a feeling Laurence's is, as Bigfan has speculated, for any time he is needed up to a certain number of hours.

Yeah. That's the arrangement. He's the full time day part sub. Easy for him to be flexible. No wife, girlfreind or kids. So he can agree to cover all shifts any time he gets the call.

Although I did hear him tell Bernstein that he teaches on Mondays and Wenesdays late in the afternoon. So he can't do B&B on those days. So that's good for everybody.

It is good. If Laurence doesn't guest co-host "Boers & Bernstein" again, I'm cool with that too.

This is a pattern of insubordination. Now it's sweetwaters, before it was trashing the 20th Anniversary Roast.

Also, when the memo went out not to mention your personal twitter on the air, every other host said go to boersandbernstein.com or chrisrongey.com, etc to see my twitter - but not uppity Larry, he made a point of saying follow me at @laurencewholmeswhoistoobigtohavemyprimaryemployerinmytwitterhandleanymore

Too add insult to injury, he goes out of his way to hype businesses that have given nothing to the score like Huck Finn donuts or the Mexican place he goes to - I get the "shoutout" is an old radio host tradition, but not many people do their personal plugging and then go trash the station's sponsors!

Maybe Larry was really desperate to get a sponsor for Ask Herb or Hater Wednesday, so he thought Sweetwater was good for it. Of course, they would have said "ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FUCKING MIND?!" So Larry, who considering his love life is surprisingly still not used to being rejected, took it out on Sweetwater over the air.
