Larry, I love you and I want to make you happy, so I'll spend my hard earned money on the Sox because
you asked. I know the fact that your station carries them and is probably registering ratings on Sox broadcasts with Farmio and D(Gobble-Dee-Goo)J that would make Ham radio broadcasts of Mrs. Tingleberg's best recipes for oatmeal at 3am CST seem impressive, has nothing to do with your pleas/requests, but nonetheless I'll listen to you because you are such a reputable broadcaster. This message coming from a professor, broadcaster, ladies man, and athlete, I feel compelled to follow your request and provide your White Sox with some money, because we all know they don't make shit, and Jerry Reinsdorf, and the players are starving right now and on the verge of losing their summer homes. Maybe I'll put together a food drive for those poor guys...you wanna help, Larry? Maybe donate your Arizona summer home you brag about all the time??

maybe he is talking so tough because he has some rich kids from DePaul pissing through their parents money to learn god knows what from this mental defect Holmes in studio tonight. The real joke is when these kids graduate into the most piss poor job market I have ever seen, this shit makes the Bush I recession look like the Reagan 80s.

maybe there arae a couple of fat chicks in there he is trying to talk tough for so he can earn his red wings on them.....

In this day and age, college is a waste unless you're going to be a doctor or a lawyer, or an electrical engineer. The way to make money is start your own business...and that's a lot easier to do now with the internet. This is another story and I don't want to take away from how much of a douche Larry sounds like by spending all hour pushing WSOX.

I still can't get over the fact that a year ago, nobody on the Score (B&B, Bernstein puppet Larry, etc...) gave a crap whether you went to the games or not. Complain you don't have money to go to the game -- who cares?? Don't go. But now, there's been two days of public service announcements by B&B and now Larry about how "you" have to spend your money and go to the game. In fact Larry had the audacity to act like it's an audit on your finances in this show.

My lord he sounded just like the little fucking BernStine wannabe that he is when he went on that rant. What a fucking douchehole.

The more I listen to this guy, the more amazed I am at what a douche he is. How the hell in this market - in this day and age - can a D-bag like Larry Holmes occupy a premiere radio spot on a premiere market's radio station??? It just amazes me. There's hope for us all I guess.....as long as Mitch Rosen is your boss.

I'm starting to think Reinsdorf is putting the full court press on Mitch to make his on air people push this "go see the Sox" agenda.

He acted like he had the power to get her a gig to throw out a first pitch at the cell

Sir needs Vince Vaughn to give him the speech from swingers about being a cute and cuddly friend to women. For fucks sake man, grow a sack and tell one of these friends how they are gonna get it

I heard the Cheryl Scott interview.

One Question:

Do you think she's aware that Larry jerks off to the thought of her in a Black Widow costume when he gets home from working with her?

It certainly has become a station meme that cuts across all shows. The people who are ordering listeners to go to the games now are the same guys who established the Score's editorial stance and narrative that 2012 Chicago baseball = bad. As in the 2012 Sox are equally as bad as the 2012 Cubs. And I can certainly understand Reinsdorf being angry about that. I think any Sox fan should be angry about it. As much as some people refer to the Score as "WSOX", can you imagine if the Cubs had a pretty decent team and the Sox had one of the worst teams in the history of the game and WGN took the editorial position that they were both "bad... just bad"?

A caller asked Yelly and Pryor if the SCORE mandated they talk about this Sox attendance thing and they denied it

I think its pretty obvious they did.

Randazzo's show on sunday night turned into that kinda suddenly. I remember thinking, "wow that came out of nowhere. This guy working with an outline and just got to Sox attendance?"

And its continued on every show all week.

Yelly and Seinfeld dismissed some caller who brought up the no smoking thing. Thats a valid point. I think its gone too far when you dont allow someone to even go outside to smoke.

The few Baseball stadiums that are like this are the only places Ive ever been where it was "you cant smoke in here, and if you smoke outside you cant come back in"

Could they really believe it's possible to bully listeners into attending more games? I think most people are more likely to just PTFB.

baseball has itself it blame, too many games too long of a season ...can't expect to draw night in and night out all year.. the numbers will pick up in a couple weeks.

Whether it was trying to protect the brand, CBS execs trying to protect their product or a combo of both, there is no doubt programming suggestions were made by someone.

Yeah, If its true its a bad move.

If they want numbers, just go back to half price monday and tuesday and let upper deck fans go on the concourse.

games should start at different times ...you start night games during the week at 6 so fans are home and in bed by before ten. and you start day games at 3.

Have the local shows on ESPN talked about the attendance at all?

How is anyone who works a regular 9-5 job going to be able to make a game that starts at 6:00?

They should start at 6:35 to keep Larry off the radio.

Laurence mentioned the topic last night, not just because the Bulls & Blackhawks only played 1 round of NBA & NHL Playoffs respectively, but he was under the impression that Joe Fan had money stored away to actually afford going to an upcoming White Sox game at U.S. Cellular Field. He also gave away 2 4-packs of tickets to a Sox/Blue Jays' & a Sox/Astros' game next week at The Cell. Laurence should've given them away to a deserving caller, not necessarily via The SCORE's contest line.

The White Sox attendance issue is nothing new, but I wonder if a handful of Sox fans still aren't sold on this team and wonder if this 8-game win streak is nothing more than a mirage.

It is strange that all of these shows can't seem to get enough of the same tired topic that, in prior years, were bored with the topic because the debate about White Sox attendance was played out.

A trend amongst many of these hosts is to talk down to their listeners. This topic does give them that opportunity.

the funniest thing about this directive from WSCR high command is the belief that all of this "why is nobody going" crap will make anyone go, specious reasoning to say the least

Vince has not aged well. Look at him through the years from Rudy until today. Still, I get the feeling he is enjoying life and the ravages of age don't bother him.

Larry's lecture to everyone to go buy Sox tickets worked out well, last night 19K showed up.

Keep up the great work Larry, you are a born salesman
