So now Drinkie is picking up where Bernstein left off (not surprising) with the PSU talk. I just wonder how many times they are going to hit us over the head with this story before they feel our brains are splattered on the floor properly enough.

My god, we get it!

I'll actually give credit to B&B (et al) on this .... right now I'm watching ESPN, and instead of silence about the topic, not only are the covering it as a top story (along with Blake Griffin's knee and Kobe's remark said solely to drum up attention for a team nobody gives shit one about), they have person after person hammering PSU for being such heartless villians (or whatever verbiage you like) ...... which as Dan said earlier today, is the position they've been standing at on this timeline for so long now.

Now I didn't go hunting for PSU stories (believe me, like you I had more than enough from B&B, though I don't quite share the resentment of it as much as others do), but all the sudden it is like everyone just realized that "holy shit, these people are bad and that includes a lot of people beyond ol' Jerry".

Point is, I would happen to allow a very wide berth for B&B & Friends to keep putting forth these "new" (to a whole lot of people) talking points because I'm hard pressed to think of others (excepting Deadspin, I think) who were interested in talking about this story intelligently way, way, way out front of anyone else.

Days like today are days when it should be discussed ad nauseum.

It's a shame that the insistence of The Show of Record to hammer the same talking points for months on end have caused some to become so disenfranchised that they refuse to listen when there is actual news.

News outlets did have to be slightly more careful about defamation lawsuits, especially when talking about Joe Paterno. This report gives them more than enough cover to say that Joe Paterno was involved.

Sports radio doesn't really operate with defamation a likely charge. New York sports radio was talking about how bad this was and how Joe Paterno was a very wrong too.

ESPN should have covered this more but I can't blame them for not going off on day 1 saying "Joe Paterno loves child rape!".

It would be nice for it to die down, but yesterday was kind of a big deal. They'll discuss as the Feds get involved, etc...and beat it into the ground again. I hope football season will help squash it a bit.
Listener driven radio.

It's not just Matt Abbatacola that devoted time to this Penn State story. The SCORE's Joe Ostrowski & other sports talk & news/talk radio stations all over America devoted time to this Freeh Report, and it also was the lead story last night on Comcast SportsNet's own sports news show "SportsNet Central." Overkill? Maybe, but this story has to be told whether we like it or not, and yesterday was one of those days, especially without MLB or other actual sports on the field.

I don't think I've heard anyone say that the story shouldn't be reported. I have heard people say that the afternoon show has beaten into the ground.

They probably have, but there seem to be new developments every single day.
