Wasn't there recently a 2012 SCORE SEARCH CONTEST to find CHICAGO'S NEXT GREAT SPORTS RADIO HOST? Wasn't it won by a guy who's soon to have a clever SHARKian nickname, Steven "The Big Cheese" Berger? Already the critics have been raving!

@dan_bernstein: "Steven is smart"
@(just_about_any_score_producer): welcome aboard!

Anyways, as I've been outside smashing away on my writing laptop working on my story (yeah i'm unofficially officially working on.... THE STORY * dramatic squirrel turn *) I've been listening to the high-quality middle of the night radio on DER SCHNORR hoping that in the wake of the Sox' HUGE acquisition of Francisco Liriano I'd be treated to some local radio in the middle of the night.... Circa 1-2am I started listening to the THRILLING Trevor Rodgers' Yahoo radio show......... from Friday afternoon! Whatever.

But then he signs off at 4am and I wonder what's going to come on next because it surely isn't LIVE AND LOCAL RADIO like I'm accustomed to hearing on Chicago's #1 Sports Leader! So when the subtly-lisped Jason Goch (think of him as the white Jason Goff, just with 500% less mugging-for-the-bitches instagram photos!***) finished his yahoo update we are treated to.... [drum roll] A REPLAY OF THE SAME GODDAMN REPLAY RADIO SHOW THAT THEY JUST PLAYED FOR THE LAST 2-3 HOURS!!!!!!!

Seriously, what the fuck is this? Where is our contest winner?! Is he in come crash course in radio show hosting right now where he's being taught the fundamentals of like, you know, "here's a microphone you talk into that and go until the producer signals that it's time for you to throw it to a commercial break" --- I don't remember if the Maya Gavin show had scoreboard updates (because, you know, we need to be updated on scores every 30mins at 3:00am) or maybe the fabled "Sports Talk Radio Show Hosting For Dummies!" book got lost at DAS GOLF's crib, but like, where is "The Big Cheese?"

I'm heartily disappointed here. I was looking forward to not only hearing my Chicago Sports Fan Brethern's thoughts and musings regarding the monolithic (think of the opening scene from the film 2001) Francisco Liriano trade, but there was also the aura of excitement in the air that I'd finally get to hear THE BIG CHEESE and boldly travel into the future of Chicago Sports Talk Radio!

Instead, I get to hear that interview with..... Orestes Despada or whatever that ex-BBTN latino dude's name is.... and I'm sure that it'll be even more entertaining the second time around. Seriously, can't the mysterious masked man working the board over @ DER SCHNORR even pop in a new 2hr program for the sake of the ~10-25k of us who actually ARE listening?

Congrats guys, you just lost a listener to ESPNRadio for the rest of the night! You guys need to follow one of your bigtime/longtime innovators, Laurence W Holmes (nee 670) and give us THE PEOPLE'S HOUR COLON WE DO WHAT WE WANT! I mean if you're going to replay some sports talk from Thursday/Friday, why not have one of the producers mash together a Score BEST-OF ~1-2hr highlight show and essentially run an ad to promote your weekday shows instead of playing THE SAME DAMN 2HRS OF REPLAY RADIO YOU JUST PLAYED?!?!!? That's egregious guys. You need to do better than this cuz HUNDREDS of us are listening right now and we're liable to PTFB when you guys aren't even trying when you're not even trying!

Sorry for the longevity of my rant, but I'm in one of those writing moods and this craptacular going on right now has really got me ERRRRGHGFHHFHA;DKA;k and it really goes to show just how awesome Les is, cuz like, the only thing worse than hearing the same 2hr replay of a radio show from Friday afternoon twice in a row is hearing the Doug Stein show..... * therapeutic new-age music flows through the background *

*** = displaced tangent >> holy shit guys, if anyone has ever seen DAS GOLF's instagram photo screen it's seriously some vintage myspace-era camwhoring for the VIP section of the Goff ALS. Seriously I can picture him doing these photo shoots while Right Said Fred's "I'm too Sexy" is bumpin at his deeee-luxe condo in the sky!

Mitch Rosen was offered Sports & Torts but he said he had a full slate of quality shows.
Another great programming decision.

You missed a great opportunity. Mitch was going to talk to you about a try out later in the phone call, but as soon as he said, "hey before we go you need to talk to the collections department..." you hung up on him.

Your loss.

Steven Berger may have won "SCORE Search 2012", but his new gig is still a good month or two from debuting. I think when Connor McKnight won the initial "SCORE Search" about 3 years ago, he didn't start until around October. Patience...

I received the same response when I pitched him my "Gamers and Flamers" show...

Didn't Hitchcock already make a movie about a 30 something year old guy living in a house with an agining parent?
