I've caught a little bit of his shows over the last few weeks. First time in a while. Man, his monologues are slow, simple and full of sports cliches. He has a very choppy delivery.

He's more boring than I remember him on the Score. I think ESPN nuetered him. He used to be like Goff. In his younger days at the Score he would talk shit and attack whitey. It seems like he's very careful and cautious in what he says now.

Jonathan Hood is a dull listen, regardless if he's hosting "Chicago's GameDay/GameNight" or Bulls coverage following Steve Kashul's Bulls Radio Network postgame with "Bulls Buzz" & before Kashul's pregame Saturdays during basketball season with "Chicago Bulls Weekly" on ESPN Radio 1000.

Whenever I listen to him he's trying to fight with somebody. Like the Very Grouchy Ladybug.

I get the feeling he wants to go harder with his opinions and at callers than he can. His shows sound restrained

Is it the heavy breathing he does while on air? I always thought it was because he is very overweight.

I'll bet after the Telender thing he's learned to play nice. Doesn't want to say anything that would offend the ESPNers. All of the ESPN shows are like that. Hood just fell in line. He goes along to get along.

Still, he could be a little more enthusiastic and have some thoughts. From what I've heard, it's simple obervations and stating the obvious. He's not much of a deep thinker. It's all done in a depressed tone.

Well, he's gotta watch what he says, especially because the folks in Bristol, CT might be on the other end listening in.

Two words...Tony Kornheiser. Although he doesn't do a national show on ESPN Radio anymore, he got suspended a few months ago for wisecracking about ESPN anchor Hannah Storm's outfits. Apparently, the folks in Bristol weren't amused when Kornheiser's wisecracks caught the attention of corporate suits there. As it turns out, "Mr. Tony's" show airs on WTEM SportsRadio, which happens to be the ESPN Radio affiliate in Washington, DC.

SHARK, that happened over 2 and a half years ago.

Do you think Hood resents Goff? Cuz the Score allows Goff to be what Hood used to be, where Hood is now at a place where he can't be himself. He can't attack whitey. He can't make sex jokes. Can't talk nonsense or bullshit. He can't do anything fun.

Make sense? I'm sure Hood listens to B&B, hears Goff and says "Mothafucka, you get to be me and I can't be me."

What do you think? Am I onto something here?

Why does it always have to be about race? Beardown = the original one trick pony

This is not about race. It's on you if you took it that way. Maybe you can't stop thinking about race. Ever think of that? This is about a pupil and a teacher and perhaps resentment. It's about Hood toning down his style and Goff being able to do what Hood used to do. It's about the difference between the Score and ESPN 1000

How dare you bark at MLK like some junk yard dog!!!!!

In the post above, you mentioned "whitey", so it was YOU who took it there about race, Beardown.

Try again, you're smarter than that.

Yeah. Hood used to attack whitey at the Score like Goff does now. Just pointing out that Hood can no longer do that. That's all. I was just using it as an example of what's allowed at the Score and not at ESPN 1000. It was an example to emphasize a point. The greater point was missed if you focused on that. That's on you guys.

What would give you that impression?

Just think of all of the things that the B&B show would be suspended for if they worked at ESPN 1000. There are probably 20 comments, per day, made by Terry, Dan and Goff that would get them a week. ESPN would actually fire them for some of the shit they say. They wouldn't even waste time with a suspension.

When Beardown talks strictly sports, and nothing else, his thoughts are pretty good. Check out some of his posts in the Bears section.

I remember 2008 Beardown. He was good.

4 years is a long time though.
