Something for you fellow radio geeks if you're interested. I guess when the Bulls didn't play on Saturday nights, the Loop would have Buzz Kilman do shows, called Another Saturday Night Special. They were weird. Small little circle of callers, five or six songs, lots of local music talk. My dad loved this show and would listen whenever it'd be on, and eventually got around to taping some of them, then proceeded to lose them for several years.

Here's one from 5/4/91. I haven't listened all the way through yet, just ripped it, but I bet it includes either "Bad Boy" by the Jive Bombers or "Stuart" by the Dead Milkmen.

I know the real prize as far as AM1000 airchecks would be some Brandmeier or Steve and Garry, but this is all I have so far. Still, pretty crazy to think that this sort of esoteric stuff aired on the same 1000 that's just national ESPN shit now.

Small little circle of texters, five or six parody songs, lots of music talk.

And you have the Mac and Spiegs show.

I remember Buzz's Saturday night shows. They were interesting to say the least.

The worst on that station was Ed Tyl. He used to come on after Coppock. Towards the end of the Steve & Garry marriage AM1000 actually put Eddie Schwartz on at night. I remember he had his own special chair, and Steve was always trying to get Eddie to let him use it. It was locked up, and they were trying to find Eddie's producer to unlock the door. I remember Garry saying, "He's too busy gathering Rose Marie records for Eddie's show tonight." Ahh memories.

Ed Tyll was comedy because you could get him going crazy pretty easily. People would call in just to rile him up.

I don't think there will ever be a better radio lineup than Brandmeier, Stern, Dahl and Matthews. That was pretty much must listen radio all day, every day.
