It seems hard to believe, but Newsradio 780 WBBM-AM has been the flagship of the Chicago Bears Radio Network since 2000, the last year and counting simulcasting in stereo on 105.9 WCFS-FM. It will continue that way for many years to come under terms of a new multi-year extension with the stations and parent company CBS Radio.

Although financial terms weren't disclosed, WBBM/WCFS will continue to air the games with Jeff Joniak & Tom Thayer providing the hometown call, and WSCR 670 The SCORE's Zach Zaidman on the sidelines for the games. Joniak, also the afternoon drive sports anchor at WBBM/WCFS, and Bears' head coach Lovie Smith will also continue to devote a full hour of "Bears Insider" most Mondays @ 7P on the CBS Radio-owned news outlets.

Under terms of the new deal, "Bears All Access", the hourlong show with ZZ and 2 Bears' players that airs on WSCR Thursdays @ 6P during the football season, will now become a year-long show. It'll be similar to what The SCORE has done with "White Sox Weekly", for whom SportsRadio 670 AM continues as that team's flagship.

But wait...there's more. Here's the link with even more details of the Bears' new deal...

Spmack, I didn't see this story anywhere else. Rather than take up a lot of space here, there are other parts to this deal that I felt you can see elsewhere. That's why it's called a link.

Nobody here has ever broken a story.

Although financial terms of the new extension weren't announced, SHARK's friend Larz at ChicagolandRadioandMedia.com reports that the Bears have signed a 5-year extension to continue airing the games on Newsradio 780 WBBM-AM/105.9 WCFS-FM. The team's radio voices, Jeff Joniak, Tom Thayer & Zach Zaidman, didn't necessarily sign extensions coinciding with the Bears' extension with WBBM/WCFS.

Larz is no one's friend. If Larz were an ice cream flavor, he'd be pralines and dick.
