Did Murph at least have the decency to say “thanks for your call” and move on? B&B would turn that into 5 or 6 4-hour shows on what’s wrong with blue-collar fans and White Sox weather. |

There is no need to bash them. Most people listening know they are stupid. I've always said that while there are a majority of smart fans in this city very few call the shows. So we're left with the idiots. No need to bash them and make it a focal point. Just move on. |

I can agree with this...as long as it involves A-Rod playing short. |

Was this straight up Crede for ARod? If so I'd take it in a heartbeat, but that also depends on what Crede will command in arbitration. Doubtful they'll be able to do a new deal after what Williams recently said on Boras so they need to get something for Crede when value is high. |

I would not trade Crede for ARod - given the disparity of $alary between them. Doesn't ARod make about $16 million AND Crede, for now, just a few million. Of course, if the Yankees are going to pick up a large piece of his salary, then you have to do it. |

Texas is already picking up a large portion of the contract |

A-Rod makes $25 million a year. Texas does pay a portion that's why it's 'only' $16 million. I'd have to think long and hard about acquiring him. The two teams he left improved after he was gone. There is no doubt he's a great player, but he doesn't seem to be a winning player. I doubt he can go back to SS after not playing there for 3 years and he's a flawed 3rd baseman. I'd like to see the Sox get a new left fielder and bullpen help. If they do that they can make another serious run at the WS. |

He wasn't on the team in '05 and I don't see him on the field tonight. Yes, he's a great player but his presence doesn't guarantee a WS. I'd rather see them improve in other areas. If they do that this team can win another WS. |

I wish we could get away from the fantasy sports mentality. Just throw a bunch of great players together and watch them win. Kenny proved baseball doesn't work that way in '05 and comparing A-Rod to MJ is a joke. |

It's not about holding on to the past it's about holding on to the present. This team can win again. I agree they need to trade a pitcher and insert McCarthy in the rotation. Freddy could bring a LF and good arm for the bullpen. They need that a hell of a lot more than they need A-Rod. |

Quote: I would make that trade with a ski mask on.
And I would drive the getaway car... But I still have a hard time believing the Yanks would give him up for Crede and Garcia. There are FA pitchers every bit as good, and in some cases better, than Garcia. Crede is a 3 & 1/2 tool player. A-Rod is one of the game's few 5 tool guys. I would love to keep Joe and insert Fields into the package instead, but I understand the financial ramifications of needing cheap youngsters like Fields & McCarthy on the books to offset what they're paying the vets. |

Rumors I read say that Cashman is more interested in getting a package anchored by Fields & McCarthy plus rather than Crede whose bad back is a worry and either Buehrle, Garcia or Vasquez - which is rumored to be Kenny's offer. He would then use A-rod's salary to make a run at Zito, and move the sox prospects for another top line pitcher. Either way sounds like an interesting winter. |

Wouldn't surprise me one bit, but that would reek havoc on the Sox payroll. Jerry would have to open up the purse strings quite a bit to make that happen. |

Quote: Not necessarily, at least not in the long run...first off, the Sox would be unloading a big salary up front (Garcia at around $10 mil or Vasquez at around $12 mil, I don't expect Buehrle to be dealt) which would make up for a good deal of the remaining A-Rod salary.
Mac Murphy, my post was based on the assumption that McCarthy would move in lieu of, not in addition to, one of the Sox veteran starters. If they kept all 5 starters, added Rodriguez, and ultimately paid Crede, you'd have one helluva payroll on the south side. |

What I thought to be surprising was: 1) Buehrle is available (at least in an A-rod scenario) 2) Garland is not Yankees want nothing to do with Vasquez (who's still on their books for $4mil a year) or Contreras - been there. The thought was that there are 4 teams who can swing an A-rod deal. Major markets only - Cubs, Sox, Angels, & Dodgers Cubs - not enough trade value if Zambrano is not included Sox - have both young & veteran talent to trade Angels - package anchored by Chone Figgins & Erwin Santana Dodgers - Package of young talent. Sox & Angels are the front runners cause both are in the AL. Of course none of this happens if A-rod doesn't waive his no-trade. |

1) Buehrle is available (at least in an A-rod scenario) 2) Garland is not . That should really not be shocking given their comparative contract status and success over the last 2 years. Throw in the constant Buhrle talk about going to the Cardinals and you can see what KW is thinking. Personally, I would offer Buhrle a long term contract before I ever moved him. If he did not take it, I would feel much more comfortable sending him packing. You cannot simply let a pitcher of Buhrle's caliber walk at the end of this year. If Buhrle is being discussed, the Yankees better be picking up significant salary for ARod. |
