Just caught about 40 minutes of him on my drive.

I've come around on him a little bit. I think he's gotten better. Not as whinny and pissy as I remember when he first got some shows. I think he heard the criticism and worked on it. He's not an idiot. Don't get me wrong, he's no road scholar, but not a complete dumb ass. That's all I want from these producers when they get air time.

Not an idiot. Not a dumbass.

Could be a great tagline.

Joe's also a sports gambler. He's a baby Da Ma Na!!!! Minus the Da Ma Na bankroll, of course. Still, he loves talkin' football point spreads and totals. Good to see there is still room for these types on the Score. Bernstein rolls his eyes at this sort of thing. Which means Berntein's clones roll their eyes at it, too. Good to see that Joe's not effected by Dan looking down on him.

I try not to listen to this guy but I happened to catch an exchange between him and Larry the other night and I had a very similar thought. Joe O. did not sound like a complete dumbass. Progress!

I mean the guy isnt bad, but just another guy trying to sound like everyone else with some attempts at edgy thought that dont come close to the ground breaking extravaganza he hoped it would be when he thought about it in the toilet.

Once again the word PERSONALITY is total removed from Sports Talk radio with guys like McDoink, Larry, Joe, etc.

There is no doubt truely expressing yourself on the radio is a risk. You might get canned, but you might also get a real job!

Don't get me wrong, Joe is not prime time material. I'm just saying it's OK for 10:30pm on weekend nights for those of us pulling into Taco Bells. (By the way, those knew "Grillers" at Taco Bell are pretty good as far as Taco Bell crap goes.)

I agree, but you figure a guy like that might try and make something happen. Now he might just be happy getting an on air shift, once every 2 weeks and is fine just being a producer.

You're right. I think they all feel safe in repeating the edgy stuff that Bernstein says. Cuz if he can say it, so can they. Otherwise, pretty much all of these producers have the personality of high school punks.

Larry is a kiss ass phony polite guy to important people (athletes and co workers) and a bitch, jack ass to those who aren't that important. That's how he rolls.

Imagine the joy a bookie must feel have a Score producer as a client. When he calls in to lay a dime, he means the value of the shiny currency.

Is road scholar the position held be the senior prostitute in a red light district?

of course most of these guys sound alike. there is only so much to say. i'm sure the majority of the people you work/hang with sound alike. it's not always a mimic thing. they just don't get the airtime. and i hope they would get better as they do their craft more. kind of like beardown's posting. better right?
