I've heard nothing but horrible things about his show. And yeah, it did suck, but there had to be at least a few people who liked it at least

Good show indeed but based on all the dirt, sounds like he had some major issues in dealing with people.

Not sure what happended (or didn't happen) during his brief tenure at ESPN AM 1000 but he obviously crashed and burned very quickly there.

I miss it, but just for sentimental reasons...reminded me of college, driving to work in aurora on weekdays, Murph would be on for the ride...Jon Duwan, the stupid drops....it was ok

Tons of people did since it always had solid ratings. Vaguely remember people citing it had better ratings that Mac does now, but that may have changed.

It was a terrible show that was revered only by the senile and the uncouth.

I am a Cubs fan, and that show was horrible. Didn't he use that McPhail with "F' crap for like a year? It sounded like the show was a second rate production, CLTV-esque.

I kind of liked Murph's show. The production was amateurish, he seemed almost unbalaced in his focus on certain topcis/people, and everything was related to the Cubs. However, he was appreciative of his fans like no other, had interesting takes supported by non hack experts and he was baseball intensive. There is not another show that currently that was as focused on baseball as Murph was.

It certainly was a step above the shows currently placed in the post 6 pm timeslots.

It was well documented the Murph always had good ratings. How has that guy not found other employment on the air?

Way back in the beginning when he would do sat afternoons due to his evening thing getting clipped it was good. I really liked it in the background working on the house etc.

Especially in his short midday version, it was the bathroom match on the daily wrestling card.

Good show. I never heard his side of the story, regards to any dirt. Outside of Boers having a throbbing dislike for the guy, it just sounds like a slightly singular person.

The midday show was interesting. Classic case of what happens when you have more weekday talent than weekday slots. That came about thru how the Telander/Hood/Buffone/Mully/Hanley afternoon show-cum-trainwreck worked out.

I liked his show sometimes. Guy tried hard, at least. Certainly had his own voice.

I was a moderate fan. I knew one of his producers who got along with him OK, but said he was pretty bitter and crotchety(!).

I would listen from time to time. I can't remember what was opposite his show on ESPN. When Dan Patrick was around (with Dibble) it would be all Patrick. If it was the Jay Mariotti show....I was listening to Murph. I HATED the Jay Mariotti show. hated it...

This. Especially in Jan/Feb when all he wanted to talk was baseball. Even non-Cubbie baseball.

Doug, when Mike Murphy did that Noon-2P shift weekdays on The SCORE a few years ago, I'm reasonably sure what aired on ESPN Radio opposite Murph. At first, it was indeed "The Dan Patrick Show", which also featured Rob Dibble & Sean Salisbury for a time, when Dan started the show at ESPN Radio.

Then, I remember ESPN 1000 AM started airing Jim Rome's Los Angeles-based syndicated sports talk show via ClearChannel's Premiere Radio Networks LIVE before it got banished to latenights via tape delay & off the schedule completely. Based on what I remember reading when Rome's show was added to ESPN 1000's schedule back then, neither Tony Kornheiser nor DP were all that thrilled that Jim's show cut into their own shows.

Kornheiser's show, based in Washington, DC, used to air from 9A-Noon nationally, followed by DP from Noon-3P. ESPN 1000 used to air BOTH shows.

Just for that, I reiterate my disdain for Loho and Harry as well.

Godawful, unlistensenable show. Akin to a Dickie Goodman record that dropped bad acid. Thank God he's fucking gone!!!

I was a 1000 guy back then. Didn't listen to hardly ANY 670. Just North a bit in the morning, and MAYBE some Murph if there was some titilating Cub thing going on. But I was a dedicated 1000 guy until they farrd Mac.

It was a really good show when it was Fred and Murph. Fred did a good job of keeping the Cub love in check and they seemed to work well together on most topics. Just a good listen for the morning commute. When he was alone, I normally pushed the button.
