I know,I'll get ripped a new one by the Boards's upper echelon of Snobs but Mike North is missed for strong opinions like this:

Well, Bernstein said to stay home and watch the games today. So you got your so called same strong opinion from him. Some ass hole at a bar can say the same thing. A lot of people feel this way.

Why do you consider this a strong opinion? Bears tickets are expensive. It's tough to get out of Soldier field. A lot of people love watching NFL Sunday at home. I don't know why you were floored by dumb ass North stating the obvious.

65k+ have filled that place for every home game since the Bears moved there in 1970. So there are always enough people that feel different.

I also read last year that Bears ticket sales on the secondary market were either 1st or 2nd of all NFL teams. I'm talking about profit margin by the seller. So it might be a bad stadium, traffic may suck but a lot of people want to go every Sunday.

I'm sorry, jimmy. I just can't get past his mispronunciation of Chi-cah-go.

Browns Stadium is almost impossible to get out of. Or into for that matter.

You don't have to walk to Michigan Ave to get a cab.

Ted Phillips wakes up sweating.

And the guy in charge of the stadium is the guy the Bears passed over to give the job to Ted.

Other than that, Mike is spot on. Like when he said Harbaugh was better than Aikman.

They should raise the ticket prices 20% each year until they don't sell out the stadium anymore.

Why should they let everyone on the secondary market cash in on their product?

It's not everyone. Majority of season ticket holders go to most of the games. But when they sell, they make money. Keep in mind, these season ticket holders have to pay regular season prices for 2 pre season games that they can't sell. Don't begrudge them making money on the regular season games.

I'm not saying all season holders are scalping, but if people are willing to pay those prices on the secondary market, then people are also willing to pay those prices at the ticket window. The stadium is filled every game, and will continue to be filled every game. Unless people stop showing up, I don't think ticket prices are a problem.

You are absolutely correct. The Bears really do need to raise the prices quite a bit... It should cost around $100 for the upper deck seats, and then price it out from there. This maximizes the Bears return. If for some reason seats don't sell, then you start reducing them before the game. So if you have a Sunday noon game, on Wednesday, you reduce the worst seats from $100 to $85. On Thursday, they go to $75. On Friday, $60. On Saturday $50. Or whatever you think is the "bare" minimum you need to break even on the seats.

The problem is that you look like a jerk to everyone, but the same people that are calling you a jerk, are happy they can get the seats on Thursday for $75.

You have literally millions of people at least semi-interested in your product. About 9.5 million are in the Chicago area. Compare this to Indy with 1.7 million. In Chicago, with the second smallest stadium in the NFL and the second largest market, you can pretty much dictate your price. Giving the money up to someone else is just silly.

So, he wants a taxi to take him home. Boo-hoo.

I'm not saying he doesn't have a point. But it'd be like me criticizing the place because you can't get caviar. WTF, and who cares?
