The people who work for this company just don't get it. They spend hours spoiling the radio day talking about the same things over and over. First there was Greenberg and Golic. I caught just the tail end of their show, but they were rehashing Knight. Then I stepped out of the car, got back in and Rosenbloom and Salisbury were on and R was trashing Knight. click. Change channel time. Heard one minute of that show...which was one minute too many. Then I'm driving to lunch and Dan Patrick is harping on Knight. ENOUGH ALREADY. And how laughable is it anyway that ESPN, the network that gives convicted cocaine felon Michael Irvin a prime slot on TV and a weekly slot on radio on the DP show, is making an issue of one's behavior? How about their own employee's criminal behavior? Dan Patrick cries about Bobby Knight's behavior while having a cocaine felon as a regular on his program? Nice values you have there Dan. How refreshing to listen to the Satellite radio networks (Fox Sports, SNR, XM) and even the Score and not hear much of a peep about Knight. Why is it the guys who run the ESPN radio network believe that their listeners want to hear the same thing all day long on every single program...whether it be steroids, Knight or whatever drama of the day they are trying to create? MJH is a fine show, but their network is becoming worse and worse and dragging them down more and more with each passing day. It seems all too often I don't even notice any more when it's MJH time because I'm listening to other stations rather than the ESPN drama of the day. If the boys in Bristol are more interested in creating drama and agendas than quality radio, then the only choice we have is to not listen. Maybe when the last listener has left, Mac can turn out the lights and join a respectable network rather than this ball and chain. Who is the rube calling the shots in Bristol for this dung heap of a network anyway? Name anyone? He's the douchebag of the year. ESPN RADIO. KEEP IT. |

I'm with Coast. They beat it into the ground. The Score is sometimes guilty of this also, but usually it is a local story that they are beating to death that makes it a little more tolerable and maybe a little less noticeable. But the ESPN hype machine is too much. The TO discussion a few months ago was out of control. I couldn't stand it. Nice post Coast. |

Two lousy stations in Chicago is not "every" station. I heard a lot of variety of hoops talk, college football and NFL talk on Fox Sports, SNR and XM sports nation networks today. #1 is playing #2 this week in college football, and I got a variety of breakdowns and interviews from those networks. The three or four times I flipped to ESPN during a commercial on another network, they were doing Knight. |

I expect the national shows to harp on a subject like that. I would expect the "local" shows to touch on it, but not dwell. As I said in another post, once I heard Mike & Mike talking about it, I knew exactly what the 3 hours of Patrick's show would be. That's why I like MJH. They know that by 3:00, everyone else has pounded "huge" stories like that and don't pile on. Sure, they broached the subject, but it definitely didn't dominate the show. I don't listen to the Score very often, but I'm disappointed to hear that they had blanket coverage of the "incident." |

Maybe your spending too much time listening to both stations. There is only so much to talk about in the world of sports and they think they need to stay on the big event of the day all day. It's better that Jurko vs. Harry. Talk about a dial turner! More local interviews! Remember when we used to hear from coaches, players from our local colleges on SCR? That was back in the day, before the big salaries called for all these commercials. I can't even play the stations through my on hold line at the office because of all the Heavenly Bodies and ED commercials. Maybe the shows need some ED meds. I know Sals and Rosey do. I can't take Salsbury on TV let alone listen to him here. MJH need to go back to SCR and move the gay talk off the afternoons. Sometimes the shows sound like TO looks when he scores a TD! Shit, maybe I'm just getting old. |

Amen Coast. I listened to FSR this morning and I heard a number of good topics: - Bret Bielema talking about UW football - Look around the NBA - 'Moneyball' talk on the Mets stadium deal - OSU/Michigan and that was in the 40 minutes I was in the car. The only time I heard Knight's name was during the update and how neither the player, coach or parents had any issue with the incident. |

You can't please everyone all the time. My only advise is don't listen to Mike & Mike and Dan Patrick on the same day. If there is some kind of 'controversial' story taking place, there is a pretty good chance your going to hear both shows focus primarily on that subject. My other piece of advise would be not to listen to S&R at all until Thursday with Ditka. Coach.....Bears..... |
