On this episode, Elliott Harris & me spend the hour with 2004 Ford C. Frick award recipient Lon Simmons. The Hall of Fame broadcaster was the voice of the San Francisco Giants, Oakland Athletics and the San Francisco 49ers. Lon one of the Bay Area's true play-by-play legends, and it was our honor to talk to him. Live noon central Thursday or podcast available later.

I stand by my statement. To answer your query in order. Carly Simon blows, Overloved, GNR cover is better, Meh. You Only Live Twice is probably 3rd on my list.

I know I'm in the minority, but I really liked the Jack White/Alicia Keys song. Also the great Shirley Bassey had two catchy tunes.

Forget about Carly Simon. That song is all about Sweetness and NFL Today and Brent Musburger and Jayne Kennedy and/or Phyllis George, whoever was there at the time. It's glorious.

I'll never forget that. The week after Walter's 276 yards rushing against Bud Grants Vikes.

We'll remember that, jimmy, because we're old.

Makes me feel sad for the rest.

Some people (probably internally at ESPN) want you to interview Bill Simmons, Dave.

On another note, Lon Simmons was the voice of Starting Lineup Talking Baseball game, and I believe he was the voice of Joe Montana Football on Genesis.
