I will tell you one thing.........I would rather listen to Murph than the Candyman. He was a weird and probably burrito dude but I miss his Cubs talk.

Being that there hasn't bee significant baseball in town for 5 years now I almost forgot.
He was a complete penis to his coworkers. Maybe that's why they infer he was burrito. Or laybe they knew than under the moustache was a cork suckin icehole. I dunno.

If it's cheap gin, yes. You shouldn't ruin the good stuff with anything other than a few olives.
Think of it as making a bourbon and coke with Pappy Van Winkle. No sane person would do such a thing.

Maybe I could get a list of what I'm doing wrong with my booze.

Someone should start a poll to see who is more hated on this board: Murph or The Eagles. As to Murph, he also had good foottball thoughts from what I remember. I don't recollect him being much on the Hawks or Bulls however.

Murph would be perfect for an upstart 3rd station and he would get good ratings without a doubt. Not really sure why he supposedly is such an ass when it comes to his fellow employees or if he is burrito or not, but his show certainly was better than some of the yawn fests currently airing.

Is drinking with spaulding on the list?

I suspect that Murph is just that kind of guy who needs to be fully prepared and focused to function on not a great but even just an adequate level. Did you ever have a kid in your class, like around middle school, who would flip his/her shit before a mandatory presentation because somebody sneezed and "it completely threw [him/her] off"? That's Murph, basically, and when your preparation and focus is in the meaty, doughy, Dorito-powdered hands of the average WSCR producer, well, shit's gettin' flipped.

This.

Yes everything with Murph needed to flow per his script so I can see how this would create big time tension behind the scenes. But content wise, the guy knew his shit and wasn't afraid to voice his opinion.

Levine is just bad nowadays. Alzheimers is setting in for this guy. He needs to pack it in.

Nicely done. Answered the beard question and the gay aviators question in one shot.

I think Murph was at his best when the Cubs were bad -- kind of like how Doug and OB are a better listen after a Bears' loss (and Cubs losses were so much more frequent). I'd love to hear him pontificate on Theo's Grand Plan.

I also agree that his style of show and preparation methods were probably ridiculed by the "modern" hosts, which likely contributed to the interpersonal issues.
