When was the last time anyone had an inside track to something that was about to happen? Brad Ausmus might replace Sveum according to Peter Gammons? He obviously has inside guys while others have squat. Of course,if Sveum gets tossed "Terrys' Guy" will have known about it since July.

Jimmy, I wouldn't much stock in a gammons report. He hasn't broke a story in quite a while. But you are right....the locals don't seem to get a lot of scoops. Biggsy is the best pro sports beat writer. |

I didn't want to say every sport media in town because I don't read too many basketball or hockey columns. I know I haven't heard about anyone with a "scoop" locally in quite some time. |

Local hockey media is an absolute shitwreck. Chris Kuc is afraid to ask tough questions regarding John Scott's retardation. Nevermind the fact his perspective seems to always turn out incorrect. Tim Sassone is having a war on Twitter blocking anyone that disagrees with his point. Won't even get started on that. Mark Lazerus seems to be more of a fan than a reporter. As recent as this weekend, he was noting how Hossa's back issue will likely be with him the rest of his career. Given the length of his contract, perhaps its time to start asking tough questions to Bowman? While I understand NHL has a bullshit policy regarding injury disclosure, the media here needs to stand up to it, yet all three above do little to work towards fixing it. Hell, reporters are still asking Belichek injury status. Zawaski does okay. Committed Indian guys aren't bad, but obviously they don't have the ins the rest of these guys have. As far as getting the scoop on things, I think few if any had the Bickell deal. Most had him gone. McDonaugh gets really pissed when things leak, so I don't know how much these guys are going to get when they need it. |
