David Kaplan was offered by 670 The Score within the last few weeks, according to this story. Kap ultimately decided to re-sign with WGN.

Kap has a big following ... would have been a pretty big move for him to leave a station he's been at for 15-plus years to The Score. My guess if he joined, the lineup would have been amended a little bit with Holmes 6-9 then Kap 9-midnight. Mute point now, but interesting.

Father of the Year on Score airwaves? Wouldn't that hit some sort of appeal-to-authority critical mass?

Terrible guess

You think he was going to wait until leary finished his crap to come on the air and the guy is basically the Sports dept at WGN? Does cubs post game and has a radio show in addition to his TV show.

Taking the 9-12 slot on the Score is the job he would take if he was unemployed and needed a gig.

bigfan is correct , no way someone leaves a good gig to work nights. especially coming in after the absolute worst host in town.

I believe David Kaplan was offered middays. Why would he leave WGN for the same shift Larry's at WSCR.

Maybe wgn pay poorly , probably just leverage play by Kaplan .

kap sucks by the way, but he's an upgrade over lame larry. why is Zimmerman or mitch so clueless to what the public prefers.?

I notice that no one on either station bashes Kaplan....I think because they are afraid they will never get their tv time on The Jokers Wild.

B&B have brutalized him in the past.

Well, of course, because they would never be on Jokers Wild anyway. Bernstein probably thinks a show like that is beneath him.

They don't bash Kap, because, like most people here, they forget about him.

WGN pays fine and I am not a Kap fan, but he is the resident Sports guy for WGN. he has a good schedule and works a few different gigs.

Why anyone would think he would follow Leary is an uninformed thought.

Leary is lucky to be on.

100% truth. Kap also doesn't get bashed here...because no one under the age of 70 is listening.

The only way people leave WGN is in a casket. It is like working for IBM in the old days.

Score producers pretty much get the message after reading about this. Bet they're like, "Why can't one of us have a newly created 9-12 full time shift? Why was this only available for fuckin' Kaplan?"

Score Producers: (All producers go into Zim's office) Hey Zim, we just read the Kaplan story, do we have a chance of getting a full time show?

Zim: Who the hell are you people?

Score Producers:

If I worked for CBS, I wouldn't even set foot in that guy's office. That would alert him to the fact that I'm an employee and can have my position eliminated.

Loop and i101, actually, but yeah, I did. It's in the 100.3 thread in Others. The Drive has been a Hubbard station for a while, though.

I would like to personally thank WGN for re-signing Kap. Keeps him off the Score airwaves.

I'm not old enough to have heard his work on WGN. I have seen him host that CSN show and he comes off as just about as big of a douche as you possibly can. Is he tolerable on the radio? Why does he even do radio when no one can see his 10K suit?
