I had the pleasure of catching over a full hour of his show with Jeff Dickerson last night while shoveling. It is simply a good listen. He has the right amount of anger to make it edgy without being forced. He adds in an appropriate amount of humor and personal life to the sports conversation. He is knowledgeable on pretty much every sport and actually seems to enjoy watching. I can figure out no reason, so many years after his professional mess up, how he hasn't redeemed himself enough in the industry's eyes to have a much more significant show.

He's annoying. Always picking fights with callers for no reason. It's pretty disturbing IMO. Maybe the the producer puts in some false info on the screen before the call.

Hood would have been a solid get for this new station...or does the ESPN contract lock you in? I am guessing so.....

Agreed, Hood and Dickerson are solid together. A very enjoyable listen.

Best host in town for a decade now, I've seen several posters allude to a management beef tween hood n the suits..gotta be somewhat true for this talented guy to still be stuck like this.

I'm OK with Hood as a host but I think all of the mystery surrounding his limited radio stature is simply and purely ratings based. Sure, if he had handled the situation more professionally at WSCR he'd probably still have his evening gig, but that's about it. Why would WMVP hold him (or Murph or Fred) back based on what happened at The Score? He just doesn't appear to have enough appeal to be a prime-time draw. That said, I do think he would have been a better choice at the new "hip" WGWG than the decidedly un-hip personalities they are currently airing.

I first began loving Hood's show a long long time ago. I had to drive overnight to get to a fishing trip in Kentucky. All the way down Illinois he was there making me laugh. Holla and everything.

Hood is good

Every time one of these threads pops up I restate my belief that Hood and Dickerson have the best "show" on Chicago sports radio. Their old Chicago's Baseball Tonight shows were awesome.

He has one of the best shows for talking about the Chicago Bulls. The Score and WGN have lesser Bulls coverage than ESPN.
