A lot of personal audio devices pick up FM signals but not AM.

Same reason the Bears are on 780 and 105.9. AM signals have difficulty penetrating large buildings, and lots of listeners prefer FM's fidelity. (Of course, not that 87.7 has the best fidelity; my radio picks it up with a weird, continuous whooping in the background). |

They broadcast the newscasts on both as well. 87.7 and 720 are different formats. |

I know that, but it's a WGN station. It just seems like a good idea to me -- certainly a better one than Evenings With Connor McDoink or whatever. |
