Flipped over to 87.7 and heard Harry talking about Connor McDoink. Okay, never mind.

Why would they simulcast? If you have the Hawks on THE BIG BLOW TORCH WGN 720, why put it on their sister FM station? What would be the point of that?

Same reason the Bears are on 780 and 105.9. AM signals have difficulty penetrating large buildings, and lots of listeners prefer FM's fidelity. (Of course, not that 87.7 has the best fidelity; my radio picks it up with a weird, continuous whooping in the background).

But 780 and 105.9 are the same station. They broadcast the newscasts on both as well.

87.7 and 720 are different formats.

I know that, but it's a WGN station. It just seems like a good idea to me -- certainly a better one than Evenings With Connor McDoink or whatever.
