Maybe there is something more to them getting a better frequency after a certain period of time. It seems a little strange to be going all in on a radio station with a poor signal unless they know something we don't know. Not that Finfer and McKnight are major free agent signings, but they have to be funding this operation somehow. I hope there is not a pyramid scam going on. I guess it must be legit if they can afford Kaplan. I don't anticipate Monsters in the Morning coming to The Game, but stranger things have happened.

No. C'mon. Tribune Company is funding it. They can afford to take a loss on this venture as they're making money elsewhere.

I think the hope is to take a loss early with the hopes of building it and making money in 3 years.

For all the Yutes here, the WSCR started on 820 AM which only broadcast from 6 Am to 6 PM and didnt have such a great reach. They then moved to 1160 for like 2 years? then to the current 670.

So, this "lets start on a high school station" is pretty much the exact plan that WSCR used.

Now you can resume your normal board posting.

North only got a job because Bruce Wolf thought it would be such a flop that he decided to not take the gig like a week before they started

isn't collymore the guy who can't handle people being a dick to him on twitter and got talkSPORT to boycott twitter until they basically bend over and hand over all of the info on people who important show hosts / business partners don't like to talkSPORT/cops?

it's a really slippery slope, and i found it suitabily hilarious that one day when everyone on talkSPORT was applauding their own bravery for taking a stand against "horrible twitter abuse".... and then it goes to commercials and literally the first commercial tells me to follow talkSPORT on twitter.

yeah TL;DR man = giving a voice to the otherwise-voiceless = the matt assaholea paradox, aka these people shouldn't be allowed to have opinions that aren't moderated by some sort of arbitrary force that sides with big business / media / content-providers / supply-siders because really, what are consumers and people? they're leeches who CONSUME things that belong to the "creators" and money-makers/havers, and if that's not enough they try to DEMAND things that take away from the SUPPLY.... fucking leeches, i tell you the georgia guidestones are on to something.... 500mil worldwide population in balance with nature! EUGENICS HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The difference I think is just that there wasn't necessarily a road map for how to build a following in the early days. What's to say what worked 20 years ago can work now? It's a very different model and format now. To be successful they either have to create new listeners or convert them from other sports radio stations. The Score model took 8 years to get to the big station. The Game will not be around 8 years if they don't land a bigger station.

Perhaps, Mini. You might think a podcast-only solution would be the path of least resistance nowadays. Problem, I think, is still the ad rates. You still need a terrestial radio broadcast presence.
