Early on during Mac's show they went to Boomer for a CBS Sports Minute. It was just Boomer doing a Bill Belichick impersonation of him giving a press conference after running a half-marathon. Kind of fun bad. This is what these bits have become? No longer mini essays but just any kind of air filler. I guess we can expect more free forum comedy routines from the zany cast of characters at CBS! Hi, I'm John Feinstein and this is a CBS Sports Minute. I phoned the local gym and I asked if they could teach me how to do the splits. He said, "How flexible are you?" I said, "I can't make Tuesdays." I’ve got a friend who has got a butler whose left arm is missing – serves him right. Velcro: what a rip-off. I'm John Feinstein... |

I guess it would make sense if the guy they're presenting to us has an interesting opinion. For example, present a Mike North doing some odd opinion and have him say, "Disagree? I'm on at ___, give me a call!" There's nothing in those spots that makes me want to hunt them down for a listen. |

They are designed as a roll out for national programming. Luckily there was pushback almost immediately when the thought of national programming on the Score was proposed and Mitch was responsive. |

Lot of you guys apparently LIKE national programming. Maybe the ratings would be better? |

They're bad but I don't hate them. Always good to get a break from the chick from How I Met Your Mother: "Marshall's on his way but he's lost somewhere in Wisconsin in a rental car?" Other guy: "Hertz?" Girl: "It does a little but I'm not gonna cry about it." Maybe these are just overabundance on the Internet feed though...literally about every other break. |
