I usually tune in while I'm making dinner and maybe for a while later in the evening. It's not a bad show and McKnight, who is still too Bernstein-y, has been growing on me. Mark Carman, however, is quite bad, and maybe that's the reason I am starting to like McKnight a little more.

The update girl does something kind of weird. When giving a score of 3-0 she doesn't say "three to nothing", she says "three to zero" which sounds like something a child would say. I keep waiting for her to refer to runs as "points."

Seeing as how its the only ahem…game in town when the Score is doing White Sox and ESPN is doing out of town NBA playoff games ( riveting!!) Im just glad to get some local talk during my drive home, tepid as the hosts may be.

This Carman guy is not good.

Connor already threw out a "you don't pay for past performance". It's like Bernstein Lite.

I dislike Connor much more than I did when he was at the Score but, as you said, I can handle the show when there is no other local sports talk available.

by the way, weak pimp hand on you making dinner.

I'm single, GD. If Tad doesn't cook, Tad doesn't eat.

I've been listening for the past half-hour or so and I want to say it's better than I thought previously.

But, I can't.

The Game did beat The Score softball team, though. No word on whether LoHo took a piece out of anybody.

I listen to about 30 - 60 minutes each evening, and it always seems like one of two things are happening:

1) Someone (often Connor) makes reference to how much of a nerd Connor is. However, I don't know if liking Star Wars and baseball stats really makes someone a nerd as both are pretty mainstream. That seems like someone claiming to be a big sports fan because they like Notre Dame (football only) and the Yankees.

2) Connor is carrying on about metrics while Carman rolls his eyes and tries to refute the notion that metrics are as important as Connor thinks they are.

It's also not unusual for Connor to lapse into social/political commentary similar to that of Bernstein but without being a raging douche about it. However, I am not interested in his thoughts on such matters.

IIRC someone on The Game was talking about their softball team and said they have several guys who played baseball in college (on an actual team) and maybe even the minors.

His facebook page is mostly public and allows you to watch him transform before your very eyes into the "nerd" he is today from his previous life as a Maximum Bro.

Who knew there was a televised Kap & Haugh rewind on Comcast SportsNet (on right now). Kap is rocking some sort of shark tooth choker chain and a very macho-looking Movado-ish watch. Haugh is heavily made-up. Somewhat delicate. Lots of moving shots of the complicated controls. Important stuff.

I thought I heard that CSN is now simulcasting this show live in the morning.

They are. And then they're showing reruns, using a time-filler as further time-filler.

And the Cubs think we need a second RSN in Chicago!

It's strange how they have a few shows with 1 guy that is tolerable and then one guy sounds like his parents won an auction for him to be on the air.

The best thing Connor ever did on air was mispronounce his own name. Both him and Finfer try too hard to be score persona. It grates on me.

I mentioned before that Connor is a little too Bernstein-y. Tonight he's combining Bernstein's faux-anger with Spiegel's smarmyness as he and Carman discuss the many ways in which the NFL demonstrates how little respect they have for women.

Interestingly, this discussion was followed by a commercial for The Industrial Strip.

I just heard that one. Wanted to post on it but didn't think I could give it the pervy credit it was due.

Connor McSigh is awful. Just the worst.

He's always exasperated. He's such a fake character.

That's why he's starting to remind me of Spiegel just as much as he reminds me of Bernstein. No matter what Spiegel is talking about, his tone of voice makes it sound as if whatever he's doing is a tremendous burden...he even sounds that was in the commercial spots he does, particularly the one for Slingbox.

These guys have Bosio on for a solid 20 minute interview.

Silvy got Maddon.

The Score got a handful of themselves.

It would seem so. He was gushing about Maddon.

And Maddon mentioned they go way back, and had positive things to say. He is likely the only lock...and possibly the only one retained.

Maybe the new hitting coach?

Post subject:  Re: The Night Game

Bosio staying great news. Though, doesn't take a genius to see what he did with Arrieta, Strop, Shark, Hammel, etc

I hope Mallee stays. Seems like a really smart cat. But hitting coaches are whatever.

And for the love of God, Hinske better stay. I think his chances are good as he worked under Maddon.
