Mac loves this...Meatpants doesn't. Actually, Mully, Hanley, & B&B don't like it either.

From Larz:

This time of year is the worst time for sports stations as there are no sports going on. (Except for Chicago's baseball teams, which don't really count for much by way of sports excitement.) Every summer, both stations ratings erode away, only to return when the Chicago Bears return. Right now, both stations are way down in the ratings, neck & neck.
WSCR-AM is slightly ahead in the all ages numbers, while WMVP is slightly ahead in the target demo of Men 25-54 (3.2 share to 3.1 share).
For Men 25-54, Mully & Hanley have a slight lead over Mike & Mike.
In middays, WMVP has opened up a bigger lead over WSCR without Danny Mac working.
WMVP is winning over WSCR in afternoons, too, thanks largely to the White Sox broadcasts on WSCR.
It's all pretty typical results for July and not necessarily representative of the whole year. The numbers will probably look very different in the fall and winter. That is when sports stations truly shine or show their flaws.

Why does he say the White Sox are to blame for the Score losing afternoons. The Sox don't play that many day games on weekdays. Maybe 2 or 3 a month.

Not really. He's putting together the station. It's on a frequency a lot of people can't even get. It can't be judged until it moves.

Can this excuse die already?

The alternative station was on 87.7 and was consistently pulling high 1's or low 2's. I haven't encountered a radio that couldn't get this signal. As long as you are in a car that was built after 1990, you can probably tune to this.

yeah, I get that station all the way out here in the sticks.

The problem with that station is there's nothing worth listening to after Johnny B. And he's not a sports guy. It's a shame, cause they have almost no commercials, they could make some major in-roads if they stopped with the three man booths that hide the fact that there's not one guy out of three worth listening to.

No it's a valid excuse. The station sounds like it is broadcasting from Mason City, IA.

I'm not entirely sure this is terribly newsworthy or surprising.

Like I said, Sox only play 3 day games a month on weekdays, if that. Obviously it's usually a Wednesday or Thursday get away day. But not always. Sometimes they play night games on get away days.

Plus, can't that be separated by advertisers? How hard is it to not take into account those 3 days per month when the Sox play in the day? Not only that, Sox ads are different than B&B ads anyway.

Yea, blaming The Scores dwindling ratings on White Sox games is weak sauce. I wonder how Jerry likes hearing that? Maybe Mitch doesn't care since in all likelihood WSCR will be broadcasting Cubs games in 2016 after a 1 year stint on 780.

To pay $2.5 M for an adverse effect on your ratings?

Maybe we now know why Rod squeezes his employees salaries down to the last penny! Needs to cover up his bigger mistakes.

Cubs games would also really hurt the ratings of The Score.

Silvaddle has been ahead of B&B in the ratings for at least a few moths now. Check my sig.

I agree, but the Cubs new corporate deal with CBS will include every CBS outlet in Chicago. I don't see how or why CBS would want to re-up with the Sox on WSCR.

AFter giving Waddle and Silvy an extended listen I have become really impressed with the show. Them beating B&B is really no surprise when you consider they don't treat their audience like a bunch of morons.

What i find kind of ironic is that Bernstein is begging left and right for fans to attend his event, however the people that would show up at a radio banquet are the same callers that Bernsie hangs up on and treats like an absolute shit.

One of the unexpected nice things about Feder's new site is that the SEO monkeys got to him and got him to start doing pageview-maximizing slideshows of each daypart's top ten when a simple list would have been sufficient. But this is actually nice, because I get to see what DJs look like on popular stations that I don't listen to.

Familiar faces here, of course, but I just want to note that the brick wall in this picture has rougher edges than either of the people.

The caption here is "5.
