"ESPN's Chris Berman doing play by play on MNF last night insults the legacies of Howard Cosell, Don Meredith and Frank Gifford - among others. just abysmal."

In my opinion "Monday Night Football" is no longer as big a deal after it moved to cable. "Sunday Night Football" is the new "Monday Night Football".

At least they didn't have Mike and Mike do the second game again.

That was actually better than anything they have ever tried for the MNF double header.

That's true, but that's also part of ESPN's problem. Rising ESPN star Lindsay Czarniak worked the sidelines of that second game that Chris Berman & Trent Dilfer called. That's the Chargers/Cardinals' game that put me to sleep.

SHARK, the last thing I need is a listen in Sports radio in this town. I have been around as long as you, plus the rightful credit goes to Swirsky on his WCFL Am 1000 show, that was the first sports talk in this town.

All said, Coppock would still do anything to get publicity these days. The guy loves to troll other sports guys just to get in the picture.

I am surprised he cannot get a Les gig somewhere. Maybe too proud or not broke enough?

Chuck Swirsky still gets it done today, regardless if he's calling Bulls' games with Bill Wennington on the ESPN Radio/Bulls Radio Network or occasionally hosting local sports talk on ESPN 1000 from time to time.

He refers to the new book as a "best seller" in a tweet on September 2, even though the book is not available at retail stores or even amazon. Which "best seller" list is he referring to?

Might that be "Fat Guys Shouldn't Be Dancin' at Halftime"?

I go back to the Swirsky show on LS which was good but also The Sportswriters on WGN (or was it BBM?) radio pre-dated Coppock long before they did TV. Bentley, Gleason, Telander, etc. were the forefathers.

"The SportsWriters" first aired on 720 AM WGN Radio in '75 before a brief cup of coffee on ESPN Radio 1000 AM.

No calls so Swirsk had the first true sports talk show but The Sportswriters was still a great show and at least put the genre out there...

The precursor for what John Saunders, Bob Ryan, Mike Lupica & "The Sports Reporters" have done since '87 on ESPN Sunday mornings. Hard to believe they've been on that long...

Way back in the day, my older step brother got his new double cassette stereo system and put his old 8 track /Tuner in the basement for storage.

I took it and put it in my room. Yup , rocking Briefcase Full of Blues in the 8 track! and it was a Sunday night and went o scan the Am dial on my NEW Stereo system!

I get to AM 1000 and some lady is screaming about her kids going to play in a soccer match that was cancelled down in FLA and she wants her money....and my guy SWIRSK, taking the call...

It was a late Sunday night and he might have been at the Thirsty Whale!

I don't think that's your opinion, I think that's a thing.

As I told Mrs. Newper, as much as I enjoy having two MNFs for the first week, the second of them invariably sucks in the audio department, so I tend to multitask. If you remember Mike & Mike & Mike, I hope you'd agree.

What do we have to by from (or for) Jim O'Donnell to secure him as the opening act?
