do B&B sign off at exactly 6 PM? or they start talking to Loho at like 5:55 PM and then at 6 they leave?
And if so, when does Ranger come off for a Sox game? 6:30? earlier? does Leary do 27 minute shows?????????????

Transition usually starts between 5:45 and 5:50, they're generally out between 5:52 and 5:56. Spots till after 6, which gives Leery about 6:03 to 6:27.

I dunno. Let's ask Elmhurst Steve for clarification.

No, Elmhurst Steve did the math and came up with 18 minutes.

Assuming the salaries on here are correct, that means Larry makes about $3,000 an hour.

Curiously, it took him 19 minutes to do so.

Two things. First, Terry & Dan crosstalk with Laurence around 5:45P-ish. Second, if the White Sox are home, Rongey's White Sox Radio Network pregame show from U.S. Cellular Field starts at 6:35P Monday-Friday if the Sox have a 7:10P first pitch.

You would be correct

6:30? earlier?

As what I typed.

Doesnt he also spend a good portion of his extended 30 min show talking about the guys who work with him and the many many ways you can contact him to see if you can hook up with him later at the studio?

You mean...

Announcer: "...And now, the starting lineup for the 'Laurence Holmes Show'", complete with NBC Sports' "Sunday Night Football" music in the background.

"Herb Lawrence...Content/Sound Producer...THE IL Center for Broadcasting!"
Laurence Holmes...Talk Show Host...DePaul University!
Joe Ostrowski...Executive Producer...Columbia College Chicago"

This excludes the interns and update anchor during the short show, but then you hear the old "A Team" theme if all 3 are there.

Irony of ironies, SHARK's version of Leery's intro is actually less verbose than the actual one.

Saw there was a new black guy sitting next to Adamle on NBC this past Sunday. Not really a content improvement but the new guy is sans creepy grin and burnt sienna skin.

I don't care for this line of questioning.

Also, in his intro, Sir talks about Chatham and other urban neighborhoods that he represents. I thought he grew up in Homewood

Yes.

That's kinda like when Murph was on in the evenings and he'd say he only had x amount of time for this show and he had to cram 10 lbs. into a 5 lb. bag...and then waste several minutes playing his theme song.

i miss the good ol days of the laurence holmes drinking game for his 6:03-6:27 shows (which, of course, includes the ~6:15-6:20 if not 6:16-6:22 commercial break) because in the ~19mins of show he always had "a lot to get to." that, of course, was the impetus to drink your first shot and then you'd have to slug your beer when he mentioned "lots of people getting at me on facebook/twitter" about HOT-TOPIC-X and then he'd invariably mention 2-3 other things going on and reiterate that he had "a lot of show in a little time" (cue to take another shot) and without further adieu it's time to get rolling.

why i'm sure if somebody used the search feature to dig up sini-on-loho posts from 2011/12 you'd find the proper post about the drinking game (a surefire way to get hammered in ~24mins) which AFAIK was the only real precursor to BINGO THAT!, which of course gets the credit it deserves as surefire post-of-the-year/GOAT-post status. long story short good god is laurence a creature of ritual and habit when it comes to doing radio, especially in little compartmentalized ~25min-2.5hr shows.

at the veary least you can say that radio is a medium of habit/ritual and that laurence certainly at least recognizes that on a subconscious level as he sets out to provide you with a format that is nothing if not habit/ritual because i don't think anyone really says "OMFG IT'S 6PM WHICH MEANS IT'S TIME FOR TERRY'S TWO FAVORITE WORDS IN SHOW BUSINESS..... [how does he get away with that slur in the year of our lord 2014]"

but yeah, the bridge to score overnights/tomorrow starts with loho at 5:45pm proper. if he has a proper FULL BOAT SHOW (which usually means he has >5sec of the a-team theme) then you're going to actually get talk about what he's planning to talk about on his show (PROTIP: usually the same exact things they've beaten to death from 5am-6pm) otherwise for the shorter shows you just get him chiming in on the issue of the day, which always are some much needed thoughts and perspective from THE MAN, THE MYTH, THE LEGEND who uses his show-open school-shout-out to take shots @ his rival middle/high schools (because no proud homewood-flossmoor alum with a pulpit can resist taking a shot at those bums @ proviso east)
