The driver of Checker Cab 1331 was just doing his job when he drove some fares to Lakeview from Delaware Place early this morning. Somewhere along the line, things took an unexpected turn. The janitor of a highrise near Irving Park and Pine Grove called police at 12:55 this morning to report that the cabbie was in the building lobby, shaken, allegedly battered, and carjacked by his former passengers. Police quickly located his cab, abandoned at Lake Shore Drive and Waveland. They also located and took into custody one of the alleged perpetrators: A moderately well-known sports reporter. CWB is withholding the man’s name because charges have not yet been filed. Evidence technicians are working the taxi over and detectives are pursuing the case. I'll do some Twitter checking now. Actually, the blogger said that it the person is a reporter somewhere "in between ESPN and WSCR". Is it Adam Hoge? Come on Beardown, where are you? Also, the reporter has at least 14,000 Followers which is more than Giangreco. |

Zaidman, JD or Hoge? Is Larry still considered a Bears reporter? He does go to the games with a press pass. It wouldn't be JD. That's the last guy you'd expect commit a crime. He's the Wally Clever or Chicago broadcasting. Larry always says that Zaidman is a wild and crazy guy away from the mic. |

I misread it. The comments on that site just said he recently covered some law enforcement stuff which gave him more TV time. So it must have been a story on a player committing a crime I would guess. I have noticed that JD is covering the Bears on ABC 7 now.

According to the blog, they say that the person in question has more twitter followers than Giangreco, who's over 14,000. Hoge has over 15,000. I haven't seen any law enforcement stuff from Hoge, though. But it is interesting that a guy who posts nearly every day hasn't posted in almost 24 hours. Plot will thicken if he doesn't post tomorrow during the Bears game. |

JD would quickly tweet back, most likely, "Heavens no, why, that would be a crime. I was home with my family, reading to my child and drinking tea with my lovely wife. I was holding the yarn while she knitted matching sweaters for me and my son. I was in bed by 9:30 right before I knelt down to pray." Hog wouldn't respond and then we'd know for sure. |

I agree Beardown, but I always thought there was a "gentlemen's agreement" that rival media outlets don't report about each other or something? Maybe that doesn't apply here. Nah. B&B and Mac had fun at Harry's expense when he got arrested. B&B will love this and take their shots if it's Hog. Hell, Mike Murphy never got arrested and B&B have been calling him gay and a racist for years. Even when he worked there. Mitch didn't stop that.
