Just noticed this. Against the Bulls game they were running FXFL football, which seemed to be contested before a crowd of like ten people. The rest of the schedule seems to include replays of the simulcast of Kap and Haugh, a one-hour best of Kap and Haugh, Pro Football Weekly, replays of games, and then whatever CSN Prime was showing two hours ago: Dan Patrick simulcasts, something called "Bears Blitz."

So is this second RSN, such as it is, meant to pre-empt the Rickettses from starting their own for the Cubs? That is to say, would they prefer to run CSN+ 24/7 and have the old WGN package on there rather than eventually lose the Cubs altogether? Having two CSNs would be similar to what northern California has, where they have CSN Bay Area, which carries the Giants and Warriors, and then CSN California, which has the A's, Sharks, and Kings (except in the Bay Area proper). Same with New York and MSG (Rangers, Knicks) and MSG+ (Islanders, Devils). They also have YES (Yankees, Nets) and SNY (Mets), which aren't related to MSG, but amount to Too Damn Many Sports Channels.

I doubt the endgame of this is to bring Chicago the FXFL and "Illini Digest" or whatever.
