NBC is raising the fees by about 20% each for four Comcast SportsNet RSNs -- Chicago, Mid-Atlantic, and the two Bay Area channels -- and Dish Network doesn't like it, so they're probably not going to carry them. Dish already lost CSN New England, which carries the Celtics and whatever scraps NESN doesn't have.

Admittedly, Dish Network is sort of the Dollar General of television providers (if Dollar General repeatedly called your house and never left you alone all through the late '90s), so this shouldn't really affect too many people, but here we go again with RSN owners raising the rates on providers, who either pass on the raises to consumers or discontinue carriage altogether. I see CSN Chicago is already beating us over the head with how we have to call Dish and complain about losing our Hawks/Bulls/Sox/Cubs.

Just more food for thought as we think about this mythical new Cubs channel that will save us all.
