Nice catch here. No one to bring up internally? Wonder if any of The Game guys are going for this.

Ben Finfer would be a pretty good fit for this position.

finfer is basically the equivalent to rongey... talks a lot... rambles a lot for a long time... but never says anything of substance

Except his voice sounds like he's attempting communication with a porpoise.

Wouldn't Randazzo be the choice if they're gonna take somebody from their CBS sister station? I don't like him much but he's the type that radio GMs like for this type of gig. Got that monotone voice. He's boring. Doesn't really say anything interesting or controversial. Like Rongey. Plus Randazzo did play by play for the Cubs minor league team.

I would imagine, for this type of gig, you're gonna get hundreds of radio people from around the country applying for it. I mean it's the Cubs. Not that it's HUGE money, but it would open up more doors for you.

I'm surprised it won't be Judd.

They wouldn't let him hire Jonah and Seth too so he passed.

This is what I thought initially but if he was the choice would they be looking outside?

If Connor McKnight weren't working for WGN he'd probably be on the short list. Unless that doesn't matter.

I believe Wayne has said his career goal is to be MLB PxP. Pre/Post seems like a dead end job.

Ranger should actually apply for the Cubs gig. Jump ship. Cuz wasn't there speculation that the Score won't renew with the Sox. This is the last year of the Sox deal I think. Then the speculation was that the Cubs would move to THE SCORE next year.

Otherwise Ranger will be left out in the cold.

Zimmerman got the Cubs for 10 years I think. They're on the rise and the Sox can't make much money for the station. No need to have both properties. And WBBM rates well so they'd rather have the Cubs on the Score anyway.

Interesting to see the posting date of the job as November of 2014. Stations, by law, have to post the job, and I would imagine that they do already have someone in mind. I would think for the money the station shelled out to get the Cubs broadcast rights it would make sure to have someone with experience behind the mic for pre and post game.

Yeah. I thought they had to post the job listing by law.

Still, since it's been up since November, if they had somebody in mind, they would have hired that person by now. I'm thinking they'll hire somebody from out of town. Spring training games start in March. So not much more time.

McDoink just got a new gig - sounds part time? From WGN website...

January 31 highlights John Williams’ move to Saturdays and a lineup laden with WGN Radio legendary hosts. Expanded to a sixth day, “The Business Lunch” will follow Kathy & Judy from 12-1pm. Host Steve Bertrand will offer market analysis and feature Chicago’s business innovators. “The World of John Williams” will air from 1-3pm and will integrate with mobile app urVibe, a news- polling social platform that he developed. “The Beat,” a dedicated sports show hosted by Jarrett Payton, Connor McKnight and Adam Hoge, will air 3-7pm.

CBS: I wish someone like BEARDOWN would apply.
