4. The Heritage Awards Ceremony, hosted by the African and African American Resource Center and the Black Heritage Committee, will take place at 5 p.m. in Alumni Hall, 3701 West Bryn Mawr Ave. DONATIONS Accepted.

5. Just as we ripped Mike North a new asshole for these awards that you never heard of, but the point is, the award os never heard of and giving it to someone on the media, you know the ego will make sure it gets publicity.

6. BIG FAN gets offers to be in the WHOS WHO of America. Once again, BIG FAN gets the email offering to be in the Book for $49.99. Yes, I have considered it.

As someone stated in the thread, how about an award or recognition of some kind for guys that bust ass in 9-5 jobs, then volunteer, etc. Its a great idea and a great way to identify those in the community...not "The Community", but a community in general.

Congrats...whats next? Broadcasters with Speech Impediments Dinner- Man of the Year?

Attended the African American Heritage Mass this morning at Holy Name Cathedral where Laurence Holmes accepted the Inaugural Black Heritage Award. Well deserved honor for Laurence. -Herb Lawrence

Me and Larry now have something in common. My Catholic church gave me the exact same award last year. Gotta a letter in the mail telling me I won. Thought it was a mistake. But figured, what the hell, I deserve it anyway!!! You should have seen the looks on the faces of the parishioners when my cracker ass walked up to accept it.

damn is it just me or does laurence got a little junk in the trunk? and by junk i mean he went to that same image comics hoedown at randhurst mall that i did circa 1992-93 and was like "OMFG I JUST GOT ERIK LARSEN'S SIGNATURE ON SAVAGE DRAGON #1... OH MAN THIS IS GONNA BE WORTH A LOT SOMEDAY!!!!" actually i think liefeld was there and i remember getting a bunch of signatures on youngblood/s #1 or something. but yeah what i'm trying to say is that laurence looks like he put on a little weight and that he likes comic books.

I think this is one of those things where they give the award to people who are known. The black garbage man that raises 5 kids, coaches little league, is involved with his community and church, donates to charity and helps young black youth can never get it. Larry is on the radio, so lets give it to Larry. One of those things. Whites are given awards for the same reason. It's a "Who's known" thing.
