Retiring from XRT in two weeks. That's a bummer. Great pipes.

The Lee-Ettes have aged well. Bummer.

I suspect Rod Zimmerman's involvement in this. Who retires from that place?

The Lee-ettes: too young to retire; too old to be Ladies of the Night.

Ask Lin Brehmer.

Lennartz will be his replacement, which might actually make the station older. Maybe Mars gets the Big Beat back.

What did Mars leave to go do? He seems persona non Grata around XRT ever since he came back.

I think Mars was a CBS-mandated budget cut like Bobby Skafish and Tom Marker (and presumably Frank E. Lee). I remember there was some buzz about him being at that Nine FM thing on the Fred Eychaner stations and trying to make a competitor to XRT out of that (like the old WCBR on the same frequency), but then they went after Jack FM instead, failed, flipped all those FMs to a simulcast of WCPT, and XRT took him back as a part-time guy. He appears to be selling real estate on the northwest side now.

 haven't been paying attention, Marker is gone too?

From what I pieced together, Zimmerman had him removed at the end of last year but Norm got him back as a part-time guy to keep doing the blues show and fill-ins. He pops up on WDCB now, too. Good for him.

I think they also got rid of Richard Milne for a while (except Local Anesthetic), but now he seems to be back too. Guy's good at digging weird stuff out of the stacks. So is Ryan Arnold; they'll get to him yet.

Sometimes I think of "atch-tongue baby" at random times and a smile comes across my face.

I thought Mars originally got fired so XRT could hire James Van Osdol, who in turn returned to Q101 as PD after about two months on Belmont.

Fran E. Lee and Lin Brehmer haven't been good for the past 15 years.

Tom Marker and Terri Hemmert never were good.

This thread is lame, can we please get back to talking about Ozzy, Jake and the sold hard rock album Ultimate Sin?

Does it make anyone else crazy how the volume of Lin Brehmer's voice constantly fluctuates to the point where you can barely hear him and have to turn up the volume and then he starts talking in a normal tone of voice again?

Mary Dixon has an irritating, mousy voice IMO. [squeek]In sports...[squeek]

I'm not a fan of Terri Hemmert's tendency to ramble for what seems like 10 minutes in a monotone voice that gets progressively quieter and quieter between songs, either. I realize that it's 'XRT's shtick to sound less like a wacky morning DJ and more like someone who doesn't really care, but, fuck...stay within 10 feet of the microphone and speak audibly.

I like the music, but the popularity of some of their DJs escapes me.

He was the goods, that is for sure. Ozzy had some good luck with post Rhodes guitarists as Zakk was a good shredder although not everyone's cup of tea.

I think they all have good voices, literally and figuratively. Who did/do you like there?

Jason Thomas is another guy who's good at making the most of what's in their library but he makes Terry Boers seem concise.

Tried to aircheck the last hour but as Norm was cuing up old Flashback segments, the computer thought they were commercials and inserted CBS Local ads over them. Apparently NexGen is a Score intern.

Always liked Frank E Lee...had a lot of afternoons that got better when his show started. Terri Hemmert and her Beatles love can go off to a dust bin somewhere...she is the pits.

I love the Beatles.

I heard her say at the end of her show today that Frank and Mars were her students at Columbia, so she's been DJing and teaching for over 35 years. You gotta respect that.

Had the opportunity this afternoon to do a little garage project and had XRT on in the background. Appreciated the music & the flashbacks. Always liked him...and the flashbacks helped remind me why. Rock & Roll mortician / obituaries segment was good.
