He just talks relevant sports. No nonsense. No apologies for being a fan. Friendly with callers. Is he great? Hell no. But he has grown on me. |

I had been saying for a while that the Score needed to split up middays into 9-noon and noon-2. Seems like with the Cubs going to 670, Kaplan would have been perfect for a noon-2 show that could act as a de facto Cubs pregame on most days. It would also mean lopping an hour off Spiegel & Goff and one off American #brandstand in afternoons. Ya dun goofed, Mitch. |

My dad was an assistant with NIU football when Kap was doing basketball there. He still keeps in touch and has nothing but nice things to say about him. |

Is Kap sort of an ass kisser? Yes. Is he a meatball homer? Yes... but he actually discusses sports, knows how to conduct an interview, and can facilitate a conversation (on Comcast, at least). He's fine by me. It's amazing how low the bar has been set, but it is what it is. |

This is a dismal day. To think we have come to this, where a Dave Kaplan, Mr. Milquetoast, the blandest of the bland, can be heralded on a sports radio message board. I do agree he is competent. Not going to take anything away from the guy's hustle but this speaks more to lack of entertainment in this town than any talent Kaplan has. It's almost enough to make a grown man weep. |

For a 1:20 first pitch, coverage usually starts around 12:45, so we're just talking 45 minutes of Kap before the Cubs. It could be Cubs talk if necessary. |
