Isn't there a single fucking Sox fan in broadcasting who could be hired for that job?

If Feder reported it, it's probably true. Are you a Larz guy?

Maybe he'll turn into one like how Bernstein turned into a Cubs fan for you.

Maybe similarly McDoink has been faking the Cubbie blue this whole time.

I'm not sure he's a Cub fan. He just isn't a Sox fan.

The whole nature of the show is different with a real fan, e.g. Dave Wills. Rongey couldn't commiserate. He was a dispassionate observer. I don't want logic when Alexei Ramirez runs us out of a rally in the ninth. I'm sure Rongey is more emotional about the Cubs destroying his beloved Cardinals.

Everyone from this city and they pick a guy from fucking Wisconsin to the White Sox, who, tied with the Blackhawks, are the Chicago-est team. I hope this means Rob Hart will go on to bigger and better things than Sox pre/post, because he's a great broadcaster and a diehard fan who would be the closest thing to Dave Wills that you could get short of the man himself. Terrible decision-making no matter what. Fuck the Bernstein Tree.

They hired the IMU of sports talk radio.

I'd point out that he wrote the Cubs column for the DH.

Hate to agree with a sock, but JORR is right. There's a reason real fans loved Doug and OB after Bears games. It's because they weren't logical. When you're pissed after a game, you just want to vent, not talk about a guy's BABIP.

Its not all bad though, he probably stands a better chance to get punched in the face again by an irate Sox fan rather another homeless dude on the north side.

I don't understand the line of thinking that goes "well, I want a smug yuppie to sigh at everyone after Sox games and talk about how he'd rather be somewhere else, but I don't want it to be Chris Rongey."

Post subject:  Re: Connor McDoink to WLS

McDoink is absolutely a Cubs fan.

In fact, as he's waiting for the Sox game to end to do the post game, most of his attention will be on the Cubs game.

I have a question. Did Chris Rongey even ask to keep his gig and the Sox just told him "No"? Or did he not even apply to go with them to WLS?

I would assume he did ask to stay. Cuz even though it's the lowly Sox, all he is now is a part time update boy at the SCORE.

Guessing Rongey isn't long for the Score. He's headed to KMOX if he's lucky.

Rongey has to be a little hurt that they didn't want him back. It's basically them telling him they didn't think much of him. He probably thought they liked him for the 10 years he did the thing.

If it were to do Cardinals pre/post, that'd be better than being behind Julie DiCaro on the Scoreboard Update depth chart. He's from the Metro-East, so I doubt he regards St. Louis with as much disdain as we do.

No it's not. KMOX and the Cardinals? They probably have 3X the radio listeners than the White Sox even though they're a smaller market. That station has a huge reach and their are Cardinal fans all around the midwest.

Best pre/ post game in baseball.

C'mon. How prestigious is being an update guy at the SCORE when drinky and Spepkowski do it every now and then?

Look at how the Score treats it. Nobody is full time. They have about 10 people doing it part time.

To go from doing radio in the 3rd largest market to St. Louis is a downgrade, in my opinion. You don't go from Chicago to St. Louis. You go from Chicago to NYC/LA or nationwide, just ask his ex Ginger Zee.

I would agree with you most of the time. But it's the White Sox. A lot of cow towns have more fans. The Cardinals absolutely do.
