I'll bet the Cubs survive, and the stupid SJW's are looking for work by July, including the "so-called columnists on the CBS site.

Bye bye Julie, Pizza man and the little asshat Bernstein. LOl

W&S do beat B&B. But the Feder numbers for overall ratings numbers mean little in terms of sports radio.
(From Lars site) For Men 25-54, the hotly contested rivalry with the most interest is the battle between WSCR-AM/670 The Score and WMVP-AM/ESPN Chicago 1000. In the overall numbers (Monday-Sunday 6:00am-Midnight) in this target demo of theirs, WSCR-AM wins with a 4.3 share over WMVP-AM's 4.0 share.

How much of that win is M&H carrying WSCR vs a weakly reated syndicated show? What is the difference after 9 am when Goff and Grimace take over?

Cubs broadcasts are about as proven as a commodity as can be found on radio. I am surprised at how poorly they have tried to maximize it, as I have always tried to provide the suggestions for improvement contrary to the reputations of the board.

1. Should have had a night show no less than once a week live from Mesa with Grote and a Player.
2. Mark Grote needs to become the Tom Skillethead of a generation, he needs to bond with the players...like Jessie Rogers has.
3. Len should have a show on once a week during spring...he can figure some Music / Sports Angle.
4. A Schedule should have been released. 1:20 games will have pregame at noon. 7 PM games pregame at 6PM.
5. Make sure to visit the WSCR Live Booth in LF? Presence at Wrigley Field should be 24 hours. Even if they arent on the air,,,,allow people to take a picture and post from the WSCR Booth.

Maybe it just doesnt matter? Maybe all the work doesnt increase the numbers but I cant imagne it doesnt present a ton more sponsorships?

WSCR is going to make some bank off of the Cubs. I'm just waiting for them to punt B&B though since they are probably more of a hindrance to the station moving forward.

I'm usually on board with your baseball coverage suggestions, but hour+ pregame shows?!? TOO MUCH! The Score started pregame at 6:30 for the Sox and even that was too much. Extended postgame coverage is one thing, but that much pregame is overkill.

What you could do to avoid the Score's 6-to-6:30 valley of death is move B&B to a 3-7 timeslot aligning with Nielsen's definition of afternoon drive and have them go Cubs-centric at 6 and segue into pregame with Grote at 6:30 or something. This opens up middays for more voices if you can overcome Dan bitching that HE CAN'T SEE HIS DAMN KID if he works an hour later.

Maybe they've just gotten complacent, fat (male 25-54, or whatever) and too lazy.

But like you, I don't know why they haven't gone more in. Their desire to be perceived as anything other than all-in Cub is misplaced & misguided.

They're the thinking fan's station, as long as the fan doesn't think critically about the Cubs, the Blackhawks, Derrick Rose, or really anything.

They are critical of everything. Your point makes no sense. When have they not been critical of D.Rose? They often critique it all. WSCR is so happy to have the White Sox gone they may seem a little over the top about it? Not really. They have underplayed it, if anything. Easing in if you will. The White Sox and their 25 fans can listen elsewhere. And if the want to they will.

An hour isnt that much and I am not listening to all of it, nobody is...but you get a Grote interview...commercials....grote take calls....commercials....KEYS TO THE GAME....take calls...Joe MAdden bite....the point is that you have 1 hr of sale of CUB pregame....and I am 100% sure you get much more for selling CUB Pregame than Leary time.

It is and isn't that much. It's funny how when I'm swimming laps, half an hour is a goddamn eternity, but I can watch the time go by like nothing by just screwing around on the internet. If I'm really looking forward to a game in any sport, I just want to get to it. An hour-long pregame on a season-long basis might be a little too much of a good thing.

Leery would just spend half hour every day talking about when he caught flies in the De Paul dugout or was it Expos minor leauge -aaa basement squad.

As a long time listener & first time thinker, I'm looking forward to my first season of being a Cubs fan And their being on WSCR. The last few years have been tough as a listener, having to hear that there is a brilliant plan in place and I just need to be think and be patient. Last year was glorious for the Cubs, and the parting of the ways with the White Sox has finally allowed me to come out of a World Series Championship induced coma to see that the Cubs are the team for thinking people. So now that I'm identifying with that concept I am a little concerned about the lack of proper publicity and propaganda to make me feel like this is going to be something special. Well, my thoughts are that a big pre-game show, daytime baseball, and a post-game show would make this long-time listener tune in again as I will finally get to think about the game of Cubs baseball, unhindered.

The story is in the Men 25-54 demo. The Score dominates mornings and middays by 2 ratings points. MVP wins afternoons and evenings by the same amount. Not sure if that means anything to Mitch with Cubs broadcasts beginning in a few weeks and Bulls basketball heading into the abyss. But it's worth noting.
