I predict Salibury gets a new morning drive show at SCR and ESPN gets blessed with "North and the gang & Rosenbloom."

Grid - Are you referring to Salisbury possibly being booted with Waddle/Silverman or something in addition to that ?

I don't think North is going anywhere either....

Unless you give some specifics, you sound like Terry Boers - claiming you know something, and then if something happens, then acting like you knew about it the entire time.

Grid sees disharmony.

Grid sees odd silence.

Grid sees changes on the horizon.

The chances of me being in morning drive (other than sitting in traffic) would be like Tyrus Thomas making his city proud in the Slam Dunk Contest. He really did just 'show up' for the money. Everybody else had a 'plan'.

He was awful, the whole thing is just a big suck fest now. Anyway, I hope those changes happen, because right now, sports talk radio with the exception of MJH is bad.

I'd like to know what changes are coming at WSCR...other than North maybe, but I doubt he's going anywhere. Mully and Hanley pummeled ESPN in their timeslot, same with Murph, and BB have closed the gap on MJH. Doesn't seem like much fixing needs to be done there.

As jime23 posted on the Mike North Message Board:

Dialing: North going down?
• Although Mike North still has 18 months to go on his contract as morning personality at sports/talk WSCR-AM (670), his station's management already is beginning to look past him -- and his underperforming ratings.
No one is supposed to know it, but Score execs are meeting with their CBS Radio bosses today to discuss plans to replace North at the end of his current five-year, $7.5 million deal.

At this point, nothing has been ruled out. One long-shot scenario would shift Steve Dahl from afternoons at CBS "Free FM" WCKG-FM (105.9) to mornings on the Score. Such a move would likely signal a format change at WCKG.

For his part, North has been telling listeners he's heard the rumors, but isn't sure what to make of them. "A lot of things can happen in a year and a half," he said..

changes..in radio...my god, what a brilliant prediction. With the merger of XM and Sirius as well as the new ratings format, nothing will be stable in radio.

They are blowing it up. The CBS suits finally figured out that competing with another station (winning some, losing some) just doesn't pay off. Rather than being part of a genre occupied by others, they are creating a new format that they will own and be able to bring in new ad dollars they weren't getting in the crowded sports talk format. WSCR is going to be the home of the new Radio Food Network.

North will still have a show...discussing ballpark food, cooking hot dogs and Bebe's Italian beef and the like. North is already working on the first program..."Beef or Pork Dogs. Which are Better? Light em Up." Not sure what all the guys are doing, but my peeps tell me Murph is getting a job cutting the outfield grass and trimming the vines in Wrigley Field. Boers has signed on to be the afternoon diddler at the Joliet Pen where he can work and play with other perverts. Bernsie is going to write a book "Everything I Say is Right".

But then, this is just what my peeps tell me. Not to be confused with Terry's peeps...who know all.

Well that 'calm' certainly lasted longer than I thought it would.

That's one of two moves that will change the landscape of Chicago sportsradio. The other comes this Fall. Book it!

Waddle moves to mornings on WMVP
Rosenbloom, Salisbury ousted
By Ed Sherman
Tribune sports media reporter

April 27, 2007, 10:26 PM CDT

Well, that didn't take long.

When WMVP-AM 1000 hired Tom Waddle in February, everyone knew it was just a matter of time before he slipped into the 9 a.m.-noon slot. That time comes Monday.

The station announced Friday that Waddle and Marc Silverman will be shifting from evenings to mornings. Out are Steve Rosenbloom and Sean Salisbury.

The new show gives WMVP a chance to showcase Waddle in a critical high-profile slot. Getting the former Bears receiver to come over from WGN-AM 720 was a major coup for the station, one it hopes will result in improved morning ratings.

Waddle now will go head-to-head with the final hour of Mike North's program on WSCR-AM 670 and then against Mike Mulligan and Brian Hanley, who have delivered solid ratings in the 10 a.m.-noon slot.

"Tom has great insights to all sports, and he has the credibility of being a former Bear," WMVP general manager Jim Pastor said. "Plus, he's very funny. He's the total package."

For the last two months, Waddle mostly had been working the 7-9 p.m. shift. It proved to be a big break for Silverman, who joined Waddle in the evenings.

WMVP liked their chemistry so much they wanted to keep them together.

"We made no assumptions going in," Pastor said. "In a span of two months they clicked in a way that even surprised us."

It will be a return to mornings for Silverman, who used to work the slot with Carmen DeFalco. Rosenbloom and Salisbury replaced them last spring.

The pairing only got a year to prove itself, but Rosenbloom, who writes a sports column for the Tribune's Web site, didn't complain.

He said he appreciated the opportunity.

"Some people get more time to jell," Rosenbloom said. "But I thought a year was enough. Either people like it or not."

Salisbury, an NFL analyst for ESPN, will still be heard on various shows on the ESPN Radio affiliate and play a role in the Bears' pregame coverage. Rosenbloom was offered a role on the 7-9 p.m. show.

He said he plans to make a decision by the end of the weekend.

Ok Grid. Congrats on breaking this. We all knew Mac told you this over a couple beers.

Plus we all knew Waddle was gonna be 9-12 based on the hints MJH dropped over the air anyway.

Just tell us what's gonna happen this Fall Gird. Mac won't give a shit. You could deny it coming from him.
