Sounding like a lot more music than talk. I love you Mac. I love this music. But I don't want to hear this music over Mac. This music is good when my windows are rolled down or while on my deck with a cold beer. Not at 7:45 on Tuesday morning.

I hope the 2 Macs are just biding their time until they can share more of their gift of gab. Not fair to judge their show. I'm judging the station and its format. They suck.

I'll tune in from time to time, but when I hear The Doors or Rush or Boston, I'm PTFB.

I'm sure if they do change it, Mac will be the first one here to make a thread about it.

How do you remember to log in as S.I.D. and Rogue?

Message from Mac to those expecting more talk: "we're going to respect the torch we've been passed, the DRIVE will continue to be all about the music" or something like that.

And then he said he's happier exchanging pleasantries on social media with DRIVE fans regarding Robin Trower's 70th birthday vs having to pretend to give a shit about the Cubs and White Sox bullpen issues in March (as he did last year at this time). O.S.L.T.

Just a huge disappointment after waiting for so long to get him back on the air. Even if the show was split 50/50 between talk and music I could live with it but it is
more like the old 80/20 split and the 20 includes updates and commercials. I've been bamboozled.

Well, why have two guys to play this music? I think you could open up a Pandora app and pick AC/DC as your selection and you'd get this mix. Can we just hire Pandora for the morning Drive and have Mac talk to us on another outlet?

This is nothing more than a typical Drive show with a format that presents almost no ability to spread your wings as an entertainer. Why would anyone with any initiative choose this over hosting a personality driven show?

You like music...go spin records in your basement or DJ at the local dive bar on weekends.

This seems like a demotion of a couple of grades to me.

Even if I really liked Dan's work, which I do, there is not much Dan there....like Capt. Crunch with less crunchberries.

I don't know the name of the woman doing the news, but I heard her first newscast. She said something about how the Macs showed so much respect for the legacy of the Drive and Steve Downes. Take yourself seriously, much? I wasn't expecting them to come on and reinvent what Downes did or badmouth him, but I also wasn't expecting the same show with the exception being there are now 2 people doing it. Very disappointing.

I can tell you this, if you have a radio station where I like to listen to the music, then you aren't much of a music station. I have the worst taste in music. I like the crappy overplayed garbage that most folks have long grown sick of hearing. The fact that this station is one of my six presets should tell you to stay away!

Will you be ok with those choices when they're the same songs in three weeks? I bet you'll be sick of that music by Wednesday.

that makes you the target demo, and the unfortunately unsilent majority of FM radio listeners.

I've been a fan of Dan's since sitting by the radio when grounded on Friday nights in high school. I like to hear Dan. What would compel me to listen to a show that was 90% not Dan during my drive in this morning?

The Drive isn't some 70 year institution. The WDRV classic rock format was unveiled in late 90s early 00s.

at the conclusion of a run-down of concerts coming to Wrigley this summer, with a jab by Mac at the Cubs "don't plan any October concerts in Wrigley...", Pete rhetorically asks Mac, "sure you don't wanna go back to the SCORE, you good?" Mac laughs. WSCR must be as toxic a work environment as folks here make it out to be.

this has the feel of a person made famous in another field doing a cameo in a play in order to create some legacy of gravitas

This is Dan's Vagina Monologues.

Good for him. I am happier listening to Goff and Spiegs talk about Cubs and White Sox issues, then giving a shit about Robin Trower's 70th birthday or listening to "More Then a Feeling." followed by Mac exchanging pleasantries with his fellow rehab buddies.

Probably works for Bernsie being a sociopath and all. He can make everything around him a toxic horror and just go home and comfortably think nothing of it.

I've been listening to Chicago radio for over 35 years and I thought "The Drive" was what 94.7 was calling themselves these days. Took me 10 minutes to find the station.

Then I got half a crappy Aerosmith song which would have been enough to punch out right there but I stuck around and got Born to Run which is a song I like well-enough and hadn't heard in a while.

Mac did a 3 or 4 minute sports update a la Adam Harris and then Ballroom Blitz...and I'm out.

I guess I really didn't believe that Mac didn't want to do sports anymore but I guess he really doesn't. Too bad. I enjoyed his shows.

2001. 97.1 used to be classical and blues.

The Drive has gotten excellent ratings in its time and both Bonneville and Hubbard have committed to having billboards for it all over the area. If you've never heard of them, that's on you. Did you know 103.5 is Kiss FM now?

I installed the Drive app on my iPhone this morning around 5:25. I just uninstalled the Drive app on my iPhone. Why? 2 words: Low Rider.

Forgot to ask this earlier: how many times did McMurray blurt out "Hey, Buddy?" I had the O/U at 4 1/2.

I anxiously await the intellectual Mac related outburst of Gloopan Kuratz. I am sure Gloop is having trouble getting his pants on this morning.

I heard Ballroom Blitz, got all excited that they may be shaking up the playlist and then they went to some shitty reheated hash I can't even remember now. 38 special or some vomit.
