Well, yeah, of course. It was only a matter of time. It was just about working out a buy out.

From Feder:

"McNeil would not confirm that he already has reached out to one of his former stations, CBS Radio sports/talk WSCR AM 670, about a comeback. Other sources said he has."

welp, Goff's out of a job.

Post subject:  Re: Mac out

Well, they picked up Goff's option in the winter. But it's his last year. Cuz I remember when he got there Goff said it was a 2 year deal with the SCORE having an option after year one.

I don't know when Spiegel is up. But there is no way Mac would be paired with Goff. Both guys don't like each other. And that "Da Ma Na" shit that Goff pulled back in the day really rubbed Mac the wrong way.

Wow. Mac burns another bridge.

Love me some Mac but holy fucking shit, Mayne!

At least he got paid. Hopefully he has recharged his batteries and returns to the Score. But, then again, what Mac would we get?

I'd listen to The Score again if Mac did drive time.

Mac seems like he would be best suited in a situation where he was self employed.

Like we've all been saying for a while. With Boers retiring, Goff can go back to his beloved radio idol/hero, Dan Bernstein. Mac can hook up with Spiegel again.

Post subject:  Re: Mac out

Mac would partner with Spiegel. Mac's lazy as fuck in terms of actual sports talk content. Spiegel's stacks of folders give Mac morning wood.

No thanks.

Mac & Bernstein would be great to listen to. But TPTB like comfortable radio.

Post subject:  Re: Mac out

I could see a "guys being guys" show working without it being all sports. But this was doomed from the beginning. Pete McMurray sucks and has sucked upward for God only knows what reason. For Mac to hitch his wagon to him in AND do it on an FM station that plays the same goddamn songs from the same goddamn artists AND expect to ease into a new format where the stupid listeners who want to hear Jukebox Hero again won't accept change was a horrible decision.

I hope he lands somewhere else and can do the type of show he wants without having to play lame music for idiots.

Mac and Bernsetin would be cool. But it would only last 3 months before Mac would take a swing at Bernstein. Then he'd be fired again.

Can you please write out a scenario where this happens? The one time you don't make up stupid quotes, and now I have to ask for them.

Jesus Christ.

Don't want him on the Score. Not sure what you all see in him. I hope they take a pass on bringing him back.

Usually, I wish they wouldn't.

This time, though? Dance, monkey.

Would love it if Mac could get on with Waddle and Jurko and then Silvy could team up with Carmen again. I think that would help ESPN 1000 ratings greatly and they would crush The Score.

This of course is without knowing any info of all their contracts.

I can't see him going back to ESPN. He didn't just burn the bridge, he torched the whole block.

Surprise surprise. "I never roll out of bed for less than 300k." Maybe Mac should just never roll out of bed again. He seems to like it that way anyway. Lazy fuck.

I figured that maybe 7-8 years have passed and maybe some water under the bridge maybe?

MJH was awesome and a must listen back in the day. Waddle is about as close to being Tiny One (in terms of the guy you can sort of pick on in a fun manner)

Unless Tiny would be able to come back and get the original band back together.

It's over. It ain't 2001.

As I said before, what Mac would we get regardless of the station? 1/2 of his last stint at the Score was a depressing surrender. No fire, no passion, a tank left empty. You think you'd get fiery Mac back?

Iove the Mackeroo, but the sream is dead and buried.

ESPN 1000 management would never take back a personality like Mac. They have a line up of "Good boys". That's orders from Bristol/Disney. So, that won't happen.

It's either the SCORE or nothing for Mac at this point.

I think that he's still got some gas left in the tank. I think an MJH type of thing would re-vive him. I just think the parameters would have to be made crystal clear in any contract about conduct or any of that stuff. He might have been happy at WDRV for awhile maybe, but I never really felt it was the right fit as far as a show goes.

Well, then maybe when he gets the itch for some sports or music thoughts, he can stroll on over to WJOB or WYIN.
