Tuned in at 5:30 to hear:

ELO 'Don't Bring Me Down'

followed by:

The Clash 'Should I Stay or Should I Go'

followed by:

The Cars 'Just What I Needed'

it's like a decent old skool/non-networked bar jukebox.

Followed by The Cars. Ugh.

How many shit songs are we gonna be subjected to before we hear the 2 Macs? I'm up at this time anyway, but I'm close to going back to Carolla's show even with a fill in host.

Sounds like Pete's drivin, Mac's along for the ride:

"And there we had the Stones #1 song from 1961 (really? did I hear that right? I don't think that's right) 'Paint It Black'."
\

"Say there, Mac ol chap, you see that photograph Keith Richards posted of himself backstage at SNL's 40th?"
\
Image

"Sure did, Pete, and Keith looks good. Doesn't look a day over 70."
\
Image

"Well, actually, Mac, Keith's only 71."
\

"Dork."

Some Fleetwood Mac tune [i don't know their songs], preceded by a Mac story about going to see them at Allstate Arena on a double date with his wife and another couple for Valentine's Day.

DLR-era Van Halen. 'Feel Ur Luv'

The Beatles 'Get Back'

Nothing wrong with classic Cars tunes. Better than Miley and Justin.

Pete leads Mac through a quick discussion (and they're all gonna be quick discussions) of Alice Cooper's new "supergroup" Hollywood Vampires.

Quote:
Paul McCartney has re-recorded a version of the Badfinger hit Come and Get It for the first Hollywood Vampires album – a supergroup made up of Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp and Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry.

Alice Cooper formed the “drinking group” in the 1970s, with the likes of John Lennon, Keith Moon, the Monkees’ Micky Dolenz, Harry Nilsson and Bernie Taupin all involved.

Last year it was announced that the Hollywood Vampires would reform, but this time the focus is on music - and they’ve started laying down tracks for their first album.

Producer Bob Ezrin said it’s dedicated to all the friends they’ve lost to drugs and alcohol over the years and they are “getting people to come in and cover the songs their friends wrote.”

Quick line from Mac about one of their co-workers:

"Can't wait to find the Ted Nugent outlet store he bought those boots at."

Pete pimps upcoming sports talk, noting they had gone an hour without any sports tawk, with the tease:

"Odds on favorite to win the World Series, could it be the Cubs?"

Zep, 'Whole Lotta Love'

Followed by SRV-era Bowie.

I don't "get" this.

They needed two people to tell you the artist and push play? Haven't heard any talk really.

A computer program could do what they're doing.

Yeah, this is a weird format. They chat for maybe 4 minutes and play a song. Commercial. Chat for 4 minutes and then play another song.
I'm not sure I am going to like this.

Pete runs Mac through a World Series favorites quiz (Cubs 10-1) which Mac aces. Only Nationals / Dodgers have better odds to win the World Series.
Phillies dead last.

Mac notes that the Wrigley bleachers will be closed til June 1st due to construction.

Mac suggests playing the over/under on the Cubs win total, 82.5, but he doesn't say whether to take the over or under.

Mac, need to know which which side you're betting so we can lay dollars the other way. Guessing Mac's on the over? I'll take the under.

Cubs were 33-43 in the division in 2014. any ground they make up there, 38-38?, goes out the window in inter-league play this season.

Cubs caught the AL East in an historically down year for the AL East; still only managing a 9-11 record against the AL East in the depth of their doldrums.

Cubs have to take on a rejuvenated AL Central this season in inter-league play. Tigers, AL 2014 World Series reps Royals, White Sox ('course) and the Terry "po'd at theo" Francona led Indians.

AL traditionally thumps the NL 2 to 1 win/loss ratio in inter-league play; expect the Cubs 2015 inter-league record to follow that template.

Take the under.

And someday it will....speaking of computers. WDRV runs a "make up to 70K with a butt buddy as tandem truck drivers" spot.

two expensive humans per rig? Drone freight can't get here fast enough.

My interest, or lack thereof, has nothing to do with either Mac. It's the format. It sucks. I hate rock radio in Chicago. It's the same goddamn songs on a perpetual loop. Earlier in this thread, I said "ugh" after hearing a Cars song. Maybe I wouldn't have that reaction if something other than the usual 5 Cars songs was played. It's brutal.

I hope the 2 Macs are just biding their time until they can share more of their gift of gab. Not fair to judge their show. I'm judging the station and its format, which suck.

I'll tune in from time to time, but when I hear The Doors or Rush or Boston, I'm PTFB.

Typically they've been playing 2-3 songs w.out interruption per song block.

e.g, Rush/Boston/Cheap Trick just now.

Mac did a longer 'Mac on Sports' solo segment about an hour fifteen in or thereabouts. He talked Bears (Bears paid a lot for Pernell McPhee, who could be the next Willie Young, best case scenario, so all is not lost there...yet. Bears had their eyes on Brian Hartline to fill fightin' BMarsh's spot, but the Browns scooped em). Wouldn't be surprised if he repeats that a few times per show. Might even be a note for note repeat segment. Like those sports minutes on WSCR that annoy everyone. Except Mac had more than a minute and it wasn't annoying.

I'm sure if they do change it, Mac will be the first one here to make a thread about it.

Yeah I have been listening the last hour. A lot more music than I was expecting and it's music I don't really care much for any more. I'll give it a fair shake this week but
I may not be a loyal listener for very long.

I still can't believe my piss stain I sprayed walking home from Liar's Club caused such a ruckus back then.

Tuned in for a 3-minute song, heard 30 seconds of Mac, and now commercials. I'm not sticking around. Damn, was really hoping for a good alternative to M&M and Screamy & Whatshisface. Back to the Brandmeier Tune-In statio I go.

That is right. It is the normal Drive with some CBS sports minutes here and there. Danny is on a ISDN I hope. Driving in for this is dumb.
