That's very funny, Scorehead. It looks, however, like history is repeating itself. Aaaaagain. Check media news. Face it...I'm a guy magnet.

Darkside, this site isn't exclusively devoted to sports, unless I've missed something. I've consumed many opinions on many topics here over the years... from Audi SUVs to ZZ Top. Don't be such a sports-only goof; you're better than that.

Another couple days without posting an I'd've figured Mac for clash of clans chat. Guess it's a good thing the ratings book was good.

Feder won't let you share his articles on Facebook or G+? That's dumb.

Well what I was trying to say is we talk mainly about sports talk radio. Not so much music radio. As far as radio talk goes. You know.

Oh, shoot, that's my ghostery plugin, blocking code from those sites.

If you don't have the ghostery plugin, you should:

https://www.ghostery.com/

I would re-cap it but, fuggit, makes Mac look all kenyan-svelte with the ghosts covering half his face.

True, but the music has the opposite effect. Until that ratio is more in tune, pardon the pun, with your previous shows or at least above 50/50 of talk versus music, I'm still a no go. No offense.

More Macs, but of the Dan and Pete variety and less of the Fleetwood...

You think the Drive still isn't bro-y enough? They played "Ain't Talkin' 'bout Love" yesterday morning! When I was in high school, Downes would play an entire side of Chicago II.

This has very likely been discussed but can someone give me a brief explanation as to how they measure radio ratings?

You're given a little talisman that picks up radio signals anywhere your ears hear them, then reports these listening/hearing patterns to Arbitron. It's an improvement over the former "diary" method, where people were just expected to write down what they remembered listening to, and just said "I dunno, the Cubs on WGN." That's why WGN went from #1 to like #20.

Presumably, as regards M&H, the people meter picks up the clock-radio on your nightstand as you're ambling about the house getting ready in the morning with the Score as background noise, rather than actively listening to Brian Hanley's bad jokes.

I won't be tuning in until I get word that you're devoting significant time to discussing stories of giant, ebony dongs in locker rooms.

Hey Mac, I'm sure you have access to all of the numbers. And I'm sure you were curious to look how "Spiegel and Goff" did in the ratings. Could you let us know? Where do they rank and did they beat Jurko and Carm? Feder doesn't write about them so we never know. But he sure as hell loves writing about you, the mercurial one. Also, when is your old buddy, Finfer, officially gonna join Jurko and Carm? Thanks. Hope all is well with you

Why is Mac taking a victory lap after the results of one ratings period?

The results where up "fractionally." from Downes' final month in time period. Would hardly call yourself a guy magnet.

However, I did hear you for 30's seconds today when I switched over from Mancow during a commercial. You where mumbling something about forgetting the name of the Colts stadium ("or place they play" as you put it.) and your partner said Lucas Oil stadium and for a minute I felt like I had a flashback to Harry's stupid trivia contest bits. But nope, after that magnetic "segment" I was gifted with Bob Seger's, "Old time rock and roll" AND as a bonus, the other guy on your show gave me a brown nugget on the history of that song!

All I want to know is..... Why are you smiling?

You think he would've started a thread had the ratings been down from what they were before he took over?

I'm wasn't a consumer of Downes' show but wasn't it highly rated. Dan added to those numbers. That sounds like a victory to me. Enjoy Mancow.

Downes was regularly in the top ten overall -- albeit the bottom half, because no one's getting past Eric & Kathy, BBM, the top 40s, and whoever is on WOJO -- so for Mac to add personality and audience without alienating old listeners is indeed a victory.
