I think it's the fact that the "most popular" (though I have proven this false, Cubs fans are definitely more visible than Sox fans in the media) team's fanbase is made up of of former Brewers, Indians and Tigers fans.

It is also a problem that in a city that is 30% black and 30% Hispanic one of the two MLB teams doesn't want black or Hispanic fans. Not a good look in this age.
