Perception greater than the facts?

* Great scorer and shooter,no argument BUT:

*Never has averaged more than 8 rebounds per game.

* Steals to Turnover ratio greater than 2-1 only 3 times.

* Can't block shots.

* Never averaged better than 8.6 assists in any season.

* Offensive rebounds are non-existent in his career.

Only 3 times?   The ball is in his hands nearly every possession, of course there will be turnovers.

* Can't block shots.

He takes more shots than anyone on the floor

* Offensive rebounds are non-existent in his career.
Once again, a guy who is taking a shit load of shots is not going to get many offensive rebound opportunities. He doesn't miss at the rim either, so no need for put backs.

This is a terrible thread.

I appreciate the attempt. Boilermaker Rick's angle was better.

Basketball is a game of stats and LeBrons don't measure the hype. Real simple to figure it out. 7.9 rebounds, yet he could play anywhere on the court? Bullshit!

So DB you would be happy with a PF/C who can't get more than 8 RB a game in 9 seasons?

Lebron is guarding the best scorer on the floor most nights. In today's league, that is usally a PG/SG/SF. Since he's playing away from the rim on most defensive possessions, he's not going to get as many rebounding opportunities as a guy guarding the opponents center. Averaging 8 RB's at his position is damn good. Jordan averaged 8.0 once in his career, and never made it above 7.0 in any other season. You are way off here. Maybe someone who understands X's and O's a little bit more than me can jump in, but even I know that you don't know what you are talking about.

Jesus H. Christ on a popsicle stick .... normally I don't hop on the "jimmpasta is a mindless meatball" bandwagon, but I'd be happy to drive it this time around ....

I love it on here. The folks are more interested in slinging insults at me than arguing a statement. Listen B&B say you could put him anywhere on the floor.
THAT is what I'm arguing about. Not with his stats as far as blocks, assist to TO ratio and rebounds. What James is and always will be is a great SF. He is a great athlete and can play anywhere just not as well as he plays a 2/3 guy. If you want to argue that point, than what do you have to back it up. Certainly not a statistic. So keep forming your two groups on here: "Jim is a meatball and the guys who post the  icon. Just don't argue the point I made. No wonder there is so much B&B love on here. Your just a bunch of head nodders.

Ok Jim, honest question. Do you think Barkley was better than Lebron?

No. I think LeBron is one of the greatest of all-time. I just don't want to hear about putting him anywhere on the court. If he played C or PF full time,he would be going up against some huge men. He's great at SF where he can dominate.

He can guard all 5 positions. Most nights he draws his opponents SG, PG, or SF. Guarding those positions gives you less rebounding opportunities. He's the best defender on the floor, so why would you have him guard a Center who isnt a threat to score? Cmon Jimmy, connect the dots. 8 rebounds per game at his position is phenomenal.

Once again, not what I'm saying. I'm saying would you want him to play PF or C or PG on a FT basis? Answer no. I do understand though in todays NBA,it seems like the scoring comes from SG/SF. Not too many Jabbars,Chamberlains or Moses Malones anymore.

He would be an all star at any position. How many players can you say that about? Magic? Kukoc? lol
Yes even center. I think he could go toe to toe with Dwight Howard. But I still hate him.

I give Lebron a lot of credit for the continuous improvement in his field goal percentage:

.417 (rookie year...Lebron probably should not have won RoY, but Carmelo's tantrum cost him)
.472
.480
.476
.484
.489
.503
.510
.531

So either his shooting is improving, or he realizes that he's more effective taking it to the hole (or both). Will be interesting to see if the trend continues.
