Now, to be fair, Island Lake is in the middle of buttfuckingnowhere--I confused it with Wonder Lake, which is a bad sign, and also a place where I was very nearly hit by a car as a youth--but they can't even seem to trek out to Arlington Heights for a remote without being all "here there be monsters" about it. Conversely, remotes at some godforsaken east-west like 195th Street ain't no thang.

EDIT: the Wonder Lake test consists of "can you not get hit by a car while riding your bike on a blind curve?" and I got a 12.

Derrick Rose was "spotted outside a nightclub" and either TMZ or Deadpsin (which basically is TMZ) reported it, which got Dan really upset that anyone would have the temerity to report such inconsequential news. It is, of course, inconsequential in and of itself, except that Dan hitched his wagon to the Deadspin star when it came to Patrick Kane's "spotting" back in May, going on and on about how if these blogs report someone's nightlife, it's for very good reasons and done with airtight safety from defamation suits. But it's Pooh! Let these guys have fun!

I saw that story myself. Derrick Rose might be recovering from his torn ACL, but this is the NBA offseason. Talk about overreacting.

This really spoils The Narrative of how Derrick is an idiot savant of the hardwood who lives in a Deerfield townhouse supervised by his brothers and kept away from sharp objects. We might have to act like he's actually just a professional athlete albeit one who is quieter than most.

From his ridiculous perspective, being the guy who loves to play interviews/press-conferences, etc, it must be tough to decide which ones to play in the short time window that he has, and still get some of his own thoughts out. I'm guessing that's his "logic".

Here's a better idea for Holmes...Go over to NBC5 on the nights there's a White Sox game and let Chris Rongey do the heavy lifting for the bridge builder to his "Horseshoe Casino/White Sox Radio Network Pregame" on The SCORE. I don't think Mike Adamle's doing anything these days...
