Henceforth, I will only refer to Laurence in this manner. Capturing his tard accent and his creepiness in one fell swoop? Well played.

Laurence does the same thing, too. Shocking.

Whoever made up the list of things Laurence will likely talk about this week should patent it. We just had Laurence talking about the "kids" coming up in the business today, walking down memory lane (he'll never walk down mammary lane) to prove to everyone how long he's been at the station, and calling his mom.

I think he just made fun of the way Marc Silverman talks, and while Silvy does have kind of an annoying voice I don't think that Mr. "Teary, Keary, I overcompensate so no one thinks I'm a feary." is really in any position to criticize.
What makes it worse is considering the guy who Leary is sitting in for isn't exactly William F Buckley when it comes to sentence construction and oratory skills himself.

William F. Buckley's Sportsfiring Line, now there's a bit.

Best Leery moment of the day, even better than "I gave the kids my Boiler Room speech," was "I'm not afraid to go up against NBA players." And I'm not afraid of being shot out of a cannon, but I don't consider it a pressing concern.

Its amazing that danny can recognize how boring it is when Black Physicist talks about CTE, and yet he can't hear himself.

I really enjoyed Leery's omnibus review of local park district and high school baseball diamonds. Riveting stuff. Not quite as compelling as the discussion of ultimate frisbee--"some of these guys are so good they run actual plays!"--but few things could be. Maybe tomorrow Leery will regale us with an equally gripping tale regarding the reading materials that can be found in his dentist's office ("I went to the dentist's, Dan, and sat down in the waiting room. Then I got up and looked at the magazine selection. No comic books. No Maxim. Not even SI. But they did have U.S. News & World Report. I'm not a real hard news kind of guy, Dan, but that magazine is a pretty good read. I was like...OK, let's go! It kept me occupied, Dan."). If so, I'll be glued to the radio!

Do you think Leery thinks of himself as a live ringer when he drops in on park district baseball fields? Next time they do it, someone call in and tell a story about how you and some friends were up in Forest Glen having a nice casual game of 16-inch when who should come to bat but Erstwhile Montreal Expos Open Tryout Prospect Laurence Holmes, clearing fences like nothin'.

I hope Bernstein isn't watching the ESPY's.

So far, they talked to Jeremy Lin, Tim Tebow and have included Joe Paterno in the "sad dead people montage".

Listened for like an hour today. Didn't read any of this thread so I apologize if it's been covered, but I'd just like to say: It makes me feel a lot better about my positions that Larry shared all or most of the opinions I have been complaining about Bulls fans having.

Mainly that the window is closed and the Heat are unbeatable and it's time to blow it up. It's a basketball-retarded thought and his reasoning was even worse. He repeatedly whined like a little bitch screaming for attention that we have seen the best this team has to offer and he's SICK and TIRED 1st round exits and not being a legit contender. He said we saw their best shot when they lost to Miami in 5. He said they struggled to get to 50 wins ( ) AND THAT IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH DAAAN!!

This is inexplicably fucking stupid for several reasons.

- We saw them give it a legit shot ONE fucking time. That's why I get impatient with fans that are so damn impatient. It's disingenuous, not to mention really fucking stupid and inaccurate, to suggest this core has failed in multiple chances to win a NBA Finals. If Durant or LeBron get hurt in Round 1 their teams don't make the Finals either. It's that simple.

- The Heat are far from unbeatable. It's unlikely Ray gives them much more than Mike Miller did. They are still embarrassingly small up front. Just look what Roy Hibbert did to them and then imagine if they had any athletic swing men to compete with LeBron(sorry 312, but your boy Granger is a role player like I've been saying all season. He's the offensive version of Deng, except not as good)

- There's been ONE first round exit since Rose took the Leap and we've started thinking titles sooner rather than later. That was this season because their superstar got hurt. Woulda happened to any team. This would be Larry's stupidest reasoning yet for being pessimistic if it wasnt for the next one.

- This team struggles to win 50 games this year. Why didn't Dan Bernstein, Mr. NBA, point out how ridiculously stupid this reason was for being pessimistic? They only played 66 games. By finishing 50-16 they had the best record in the NBA and a winning % equal to 62-20 for a full season. But you would sound a lot more ridiculous saying you're sick and tired of 62 win seasons.

Larry Holmes is basketball-retarded. And please don't take offense to that anybody. I mean it literally.

All I know is that if you're Rose-less all year, you just tank the season and gear up for better things when he's back. No good comes out of being the Utah Jazz for a year.

I agree but this isn't baseball. It's not a good idea to be a seller if your guy will be back probably before the trade deadline even arrives. I wouldn't mind trading Deng but giving him away from 40 cents on the dollar would be crazy. He's our only legit SF, an All Star(admittedly on the borderline tier of that demo), and isn't overpaid like everybody suggests. If you sell him you have to replace him by the end of next season. Everyone wanted to trade him for like the 7/8 pick but you aren't replacing his production, probably ever but certainly short term, with a guy like Terrence Ross or Harrison Barnes.

I also forgot to mention in that rant that Rose had a bum ankle during that Miami series. It's not an excuse because they would've lost anyway but that was a much closer series and these teams are much closer than people realize.

We got a Lance Armstrong mention! The quadrant of Bernstein hatred is complete!

You're watching the ESPY's? Hopefully you have a lot of caffeine or something to make it somewhat interesting.

Drew Brees just won an award! Tough day for Dan Bernstein.

Gotta credit Darko for that one.

To return to seriousness, the template for tanking isn't trading Deng, who's a good player on a mildly decent contract, but amnestying Boozer. Tank that way. Get creative in summer '13, and go to war.

The Bulls won't do that, of course. They're more conservative than the aforementioned Buckley.
