You can go back to the beginning to listen to them riff the whole press conference if you want, but I'm more interested in the uninterested postmortems. Phil Emery went from making us dumber about football to being a great, measured thinker.

"Does this guy sound like a no-b.s leader?"
"No."
"I've lost my will to live."

Can't submit a draft pick on time.
"A 'numerical number'? Okay."
He has the authority, but that's not where his head is, but he has processes!
Ladies and gentlemen, your Chicago Bears.
"Don't tell me this guy is some great orator who commands respect because of his great leadership abilities."

Incidentally,
http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2012/10/24/ ... extension/

Quote:
Elements of the broadcast agreement include:

• All CBS RADIO Chicago stations will feature a segment with a representative from the Bears every Monday morning during football season;
• 670 The Score’s team coverage will extend coverage throughout the day under the banner “Bears Mondays;”
• “Bears Noon Hour Update,” which began this season, will continue to run weekdays on 670 The Score throughout the season;
• Beginning in 2013, a 3-4 minute Bears vignette will be broadcast Saturday evenings on 670 The Score and replayed on WBBM Newsradio 780 & 105.9FM through Sunday morning;
• Bears All-Access, a one-hour program on 670 The Score, will become a year-round weekly program.

This sort of punctures the idea that the Bears have to be on 780 because the Score is too hard on them. It's all one big happy Bears-promoting family. Even K-Hits!

Doesn't the "Bears Noon Hour Update" only exist because Mac-n-Co shotgunned Zach? Now it's listed as a "feature" of the extension? HA!

but yeah, when i hear the FOTS and terry go on and on about how PHIL EMERY IS IN CHARGE and SHADDAP ABOUT THE MCCASKEYS THE MCCASKEYS WERE **NEVER** CHEAP (i really heard that today)... mm-hmm. thank you sir, may i please have another?

The worst part of that agreement is that we've found something worse than year-round White Sox Weekly, and that's year-round Bears Anal Access.

"I'm here. with. Chris Conte. Now most people know you as a standout defensive back. for. the Bears. But as we approach. the vernal equinox, there's one thing people. may not. know. And that's that you. maintain a vivid. and varied. gladiola patch. Tell us about that."

zach's non-question "questions" on the proper bears broadcasts always crack me up. say the bears are down 14-3 going into halftime, zach will run up to lovie and start editorializing like "LOVIE, THE DEFENSE GAVE UP A COUPLE OF SCORES WHILE THE OFFENSE HASN'T GOTTEN IT GOING YET.... YOU HAVE TO BE DISAPPOINTED"

huh?

it's weird... really all zach has to do is be like "we're here with lovie smith, lovie, your thoughts on the first half?" but instead it's always this summary of the first half with zach then tossing out how lovie HAS to feel, or what the team NEEDS to do in the second half... he basically answers the "question/s" he asked and only leaves lovie room to go "uh huh" and toss out some platitudes about how they need to tighten up on defense / get the offense going.

i'm sure he does that a bunch on bears all access, but i can't last more than a segment without bailing. clearly it's some sort of complex where zach wants to show everyone involved that he's knowledgeable and on the same wavelength by them.

Someone needs to tell Zach he only needs to ask the coach how hard his players are playing.
