How old is this Harris? Like 22 or 23 I'm guessing. Right out of college I assume. Been at the Score for a year or so.

Like I said, he's been on the right side in these fights. I think Bernstein has played about a dozen of these things over the last year or so.

It's more about the presentation. Lose the pissy, teenage-girl way of arguing. Lose the attitude and the tone. Goes for all of the Score producers. Mitch allows this behavior from them and the younger producers learn it's accepted from the behavior of the older producers. It all started with drinky and Goff. Then Joe O, Herb and that producer in the morning show (I always forget his name). Hell, even Mac's boys are like this when they get air time.

Look at all of them. If the goal is to be full time talent, you'd think they'd all realize that this style won't get it done. There not as smart as Bernstein to where being an ass hat will work.

We all make fun of the Zacks, Connors and Rangers over there. They deserve it. But to their credit, they knew how to behave when they entered this biz. A little bit more civilized and mature.

You'd think the producer punks would figure it out. The Rangers and Connors become full time talent. The drinks and Goffs remain producers at the Score (I know Goff got a low budget, start-up station in Atlanta, but I'm talking about the Score).

Being punk ass bitches might be fun, but it's not gonna get you anywhere. They're too stupid for this to work and the older they get, the more pathetic they sound.

I'd rather listen to Les be wrong than Adam Harris be right. Why was there no one along the way to tell him "you should consider pursuing anything else in the entire world but talking on the radio"? I'm sure the news had to be broken to an aspiring surgeon who had lost the use of his hands. Why not here?

Adam Harris sounds like a little wanker. Like the nerd who did the announcements in high school. He has the voice of a eunuch and the intellect of a marmoset. He's another zero on the personality scale. He comes from the Finfer Whiny Bitch School of Broadcasting. Harris, like the other no talent carbon blobs, wishes they could be a Laurence Holmes. Imagine that being your life: Aspiring to have the career of Larry.

I used to like Les' show. Back around 1997. But the thing is he's still doing that same show from 1997. The same open, same sound drops, same referring to Gary Bettman as Beavis, same dumbass Cubs/Sox rivarly shit, same meatball Packer hating. Dino you'll die without Primeau. Down, down, down, Lakers going down.

But I could also say that about Mac. His show is essentially the same as the old MJH minus a person who might disagree with him and a likeable oaf.

You'd think Harris would learn by now to not engage in arguments with the indomitable slab of mental granite that is the mind of Les Grobstein. It's Harris' fault. Les has always persisted in adhering to incorrect facts and opinions.

This station is fucked if this current crop of producers and engineers is the future. I do like Tanneyhill's work on B+B. Never heard him do a show. Rest of the guys are hacks.

"IT HAS EEEEEEVERYTHING TO DO WITH IT" was a great drop.

Les is stale and weird and I don't really care. The purpose of live/local overnights is to give quarter to insomniacs, third-shifters, people with newborns, the terminally lonely, and the deranged, and I think Les does that as well as anyone could. The callers are weird and he's weird and it's overnights so who gives a fuck. People want to talk about sports and they can. It should be a refuge from Bernstein Radio. That's what The Steven Berger never figured out. He did his show like it was 8 p.m. on a weeknight instead of 1 a.m. on the weekend, as if you could get away with just "It was a big week in sports and I watched some sports and people think things about sports but they're generally wrong about sports" instead of quarterbacking some longform shit-shooting with the lost souls of overnight AM radio.

Yes they are. It was just a commentary on how homogenized the Score C-Team is.

I don't really listen to Les's show too much. I'm guessing the Adam Harris hate is probably justified, professionally. In person he's not dumb, annoying, or socially awkward though. He's a pretty bright, normal guy, from what I remember. Maybe chose a bad career path.

That's exactly right.

I don't understand why it's cool to argue with Les. Arguing/despising the on-air does not make you a better employee. I can see how a civil argument might make the show more interesting. The kid should be grateful to have a job even if he doesn't like Les. There are people who are desperate enough to want that overnight shift just to get a foot in the door.

As for Dan Bernstein if he wants to pick on Les than he should host his show for a week. Let's see how Dan does on the midnight to 5 a.m. shift.

If Adam Harris believes he is going to "make it" at the Score by embarrassing Les, he truly is ignorant. Bernstein himself did not ascend within the station's ranks by attacking his colleagues, but by covering the Bears in a very critical manner when other reporters and talk show hosts were giving Wannstedt a free ride. From the moment he became the Bears training camp reporter (Wannstedt's 2nd or 3rd season), Bernstein was questioning Wanny's draft picks and strategies. He changed the whole conversation surrounding the Bears and thus quickly became a part-time host and then the full-tme evening guy (replacing Murph).

The problem with the current iteration of the Score is that the station is too closely aligned with the teams to "take the lead" in criticizing them. Young producers and inexperienced part-time hosts follow the example of their elders in waiting for a problem to become undeniable before saying much about it. Instead of questioning the institutions of power within the Chicago sports landscape, they attack the fans--and one another.

Adam Harris is not to be upheld as an example of a smart, emerging talent at the Score. Rather, he is a symptom of the station's steep decline.

It's about his punk ass attitude and tone. Forget the "respect your elders" aspect. We all agree Les is dumb. Not the point.

Here is the point. If you're gonna be in the biz, you might as well aspire to be the next Bob Costas. These kid producers seem like they're trying to be the next drinky or Goff. Shoot higher than that. Being the actual drinky and Goff sucks. They've gotten no where at the Score. Did a young Bob Costas behave like Adam Harris in his first gig out of college? I think it's safe to say "no".

It's like the kids reading this message board that have yet to post. You think they want to be the next Drop In, Terry's Peeps, Spmack, Kid Cairo or Krazy Ivan?

Hell no. They want to be me.

No. But if you get a really dumb Eastern European stripper, you tell her the $50 your handing her is a $100. Especially the Eastern European girls that you have detected just arrived to America illegally. It works!!!! So you make money on the change!!!!

I tried it 4 times. It worked twice. The other two times, Beardown got slapped and my drink thrown in my face. They weren't as dumb as I thought. :( But that also happens to me when I'm a polite gentlemen with the ladies outside of strip clubs in civilized society. So what the hell. It didn't bother me.

The problem for Adam Harris is that he is an inarticulate dolt. Les says some dumb things, but Adam Harris is stupid.

The closest guy on the Score to Bob Costas is Wayne Randazzo. He's like Mr. Baseball on the station with that play-by-play announcer's voice.

I do not hear a bit of nasal in the Randazzler. I will listen closer.

There's some to Silvy, Murph, Harry and a couple others I'm forgetting. Maybe even Rosenbloom a bit.

What? Wayne is the king of nasal.
