I really feel out of sorts defending the Bears this weekend but yeah this would be a terrible WYC. Calling out a GM for being deceptive before a draft is just patently stupid.

And is Emery really an analytical GM? He just resigned Cutler for huge money and signed Jared Allen. He also just seems to take the best athlete more so than any other factor in drafts.

I think the broader problem the GMs have with Emery is him screwing up their fourth and third round boards in rounds one and two.

Yes, at least he claims to be very analytical.

When he says he did a study and that late round QBs as draft picks are worthless...then drafts one late is the essence of WYC.

Would the proper thing to do entail him informing the teams ahead of him that he intended to draft that particular QB?

I think the essence is OJ pleading not guilty successfully and then writing a book called If I Did It.

A GM not telling the truth about his intentions is not at all noteworthy or WYC material.

If you want to criticize Emery for that pick than just cite the same study he talked about and say it's a bad pick and if he wants to be analytical he should know better.

From 2006 to 2013, there were 59 quarterbacks drafted in Rounds 3-7. Only two are top-end starters: Russell Wilson (third round, 2012, Seattle Seahawks) and Nick Foles(third round, 2012, Philadelphia Eagles). And Foles might have more to prove, but he was Pro Bowl-worthy in 2013.

The best of the rest: Bruce Gradkowski (sixth round, 2006); Matt Flynn (seventh round, 2008); Curtis Painter (sixth round, 2009); Ryan Mallett (third round, 2011); Kirk Cousins (fourth round, 2012). Other considerations: Colt McCoy (third round, 2010); T.J. Yates (fifth round, 2011); Tyrod Taylor (sixth round, 2011).

Does that mean it will bounce back through DDP yoga and be better?

WYC is not supposed to be about lies. It is supposed to be about hypocrisy.
