Piggybacking this post, Bernstein also laid the foundation for Phillips being shuffled over to a new business-only (non football) side of the Bears after the new GM an coach are hired. He said they did something similar to Michael McCaskey after the Dave McGinnis debacle. A few weeks after that happened, voilah, Michael was no longer big cheese.
For Bernstein, it's all about CYA. Lame. All that crap yesterday about the meeting after the Packers game and his denial of having anything to do with it was rich.
