It's hysterical to go through the "love your show", "love your suit" protocal with Scmutzie.

I won't accept that a guy who works 4 hours a day with a partner who works from his easy chair cannot find the time to indulge a hello.

Give 'em a break. They're doing their level best and will send once done. Hope this is fine.

I don't understand the annoyance. It is just a way to begin a conversation. I'm sure Berns does it daily.

Everyone does it. It's called society. To not do it is downright odd as illustrated by Curious Hair in a post above. What's really strange is those who question the sincerity with which "How ya doin'?" is asked. Of course, it's not sincere. Almost nobody really gives a shit how you are. It's just the oil with which we lubricate communication. I wouldn't mind if dan bernstein had a terminal condition, but if I were meeting him I would still say something like, "Hi, how are you?" And it doesn't demand a real answer either. Once in awhile you'll meet someone- usually an old guy- who actually replies with his maladies. There is only one appropriate answer to "How are you?" and that is "Fine, and how about you?"

I don't. And if we can all agree it's insincere in the first place THEN WHY ASK THE QUESTION TO BEGIN WITH? You are proving my point entirely. All you sheep who feel compelled to follow some conversational script, go right ahead. But it's annoying as hell, probably to more people than you think. I haven't been the only one in this thread who has said it's annoying.

So how exactly do you greet people & begin a conversation?

Should we stop saying please, thank you, & your welcome too? You just know no one means it.

The world needs more well mannered people.

I'm at a complete loss as to how anyone can suggest there's anything wrong whatsoever with using a simple, expected, two-second convention of the language to open a conversation with a stranger.

I guess when he visits his brand of temple he just glares at whomever says "Shalom"?

Did anyone question Bernstein's logic on this?

If Fox is their first-choice, they want to give him the job and anybody else they bring in cannot possibly be their first choice, why are they bothering to interview him?

Just offer him the job.

Who is making this hire? I hear Pace has the final say, but national reporters continue to suggest the 'Bears' want a veteran coach to go with Pace. If that is true, that implies that Pace may only be a voice in the decision, not the final one.
