Why would any company refuse free labor?

Generally, there are rules about what interns can and can't do. It sounds like CBS was using their free labor to do paid-labor things.

I was fortunate to intern at a station that didn't enforce those rules very much, and I was fortunate not to be a complete idiot like most radio interns are, so I got to dabble in traffic/continuity, production, show prep, and even help voice a few spots rather than just toil in the promotions closet folding t-shirts and affixing labels to the prize wheel. I think they also deduced that when it comes to the folding of t-shirts, I am a complete idiot. I fell up.

I often look back with moist eyes on my days fetching Mitch Michaels' lunch ( hey man, you fly I buy ) during the Rock n Roll Diner "request" hour on CKG.
